Am I better to test my first campaign(s) with an offer that pays a larger amount for a sign up subscription (eg: $25+ payout) or to advertise an offer that pays a few dollars for leads (eg: $2+ payout)
Seems like a simple question on the surface, but maybe more to it than I can see at the moment.
Go for low payout, SOI/DOI offers that convert on opt-in, app install, etc. High ticket offers are generally CPS (cost per sale) or have such a high payout as the user has to whip out a credit card for you to get the lead. With those kinds of offers you generally need a bigger bankroll to test and need to be comfortable with much bigger losses during initial optimisation. Additionally, lower payout offers typically have a lower barriers to conversion = higher conversion rates = you get more conversion data per dollar.
Excellent thanks for that zeno, I was hoping for a definite this one or that one for a newbie starting up ... I don't know the meaning of SOI/DOI, I did a forum search for that but came up with nothing, anybody know if there is a list of all (most) abbreviations somewhere on site?, while reading some posts my eyes start to glaze over after the 2nd or 3rd unknown 3 letter mystery ...
SOI: single opt-in, the user just has to sign up on the offer page for the lead to be valid.
DOI: double opt-in, in addition to signing up on the offer page, the user gets a confirmation link via email that he has to click in order for the lead to be valid.
Maybe you can start an mobile offers first especially 1-click flow offers.
1-click-flow: The users are presented with the landing page (made up of banners). When the user clicks on the banner (landing page) they get automatically subscribed to our services. (This is where the pixel fires). Users then get redirected to the welcome page. In simplest terms, if you are promoting these types of offers and the users lands on your affiliate links and clicks anywhere within the banner, you get paid.
I've got "glossary" high on my list of projects here at STM - a lot of people have been asking for that!
