Hello,
I'm working on a script to block all kind of spy tools or redirect them to a fake page.
Does anybody know which ip ranges, user agents or referrers Whatrunswhere uses?
also if you have ip ranges, user agents or referrers from other SpyTools please post them here
thanks in advance!
Its a tough job man since most spy tools use the user agent of the most used browsers like FF/IE etc.
Only option would be finding the IPs but that can be also changed by using a proxy.
Considering Max from WRW is an active member here, posting about it publicly is probably not going to be the most effective way to begin your David vs Goliath one-man army fight vs an entire company with millions of dollars in funding whose service 100% relies on scraping your ads, landers, and more
Yeah what Tim said.
This tool would be valuable to a lot of people. But it's the kind of thing you need to keep low key, especially how you go about blocking each spy tool.
I think the best way to deal with it is to keep it very quiet when you do figure it out.
Another way to deal with it is to ask them to take down your stuff when you see it on their website. If they still don't comply, get a lawyer to write you a letter and ask them to not display any content from your website. They are storing your stuff on their server so there is a legal argument for it.
There is a company that does that already and blocks others like Box of ads. I dont think they are wanting any more members but I can check.
I think they focus on WRW, Box of ads, Adheist.com, adclarity and adbeat. There actually really nice tools.
got it....thanks for the feedback..i'll keep it on the low.
@jred2002 would be great if you could pm me some details ;-)
Hi there,
A bit late, but I'd love to address some concerns here.
If you have a copyright on any content in our database we are DMCA compliant and respond to takedowns.
We actively work to prevent tools like this from existing. The ones that claim they work may work for a few days or a week. We're pretty good at this.
If you have any questions or concerns with anything WRW related you can contact me directly at max@whatrunswhere.com, I'm happy to help.
I realize this won't block your ads or LP URLs from being swiped on other sites, but fyi...

Ok, but what if I still want to exclude my site?
Our software obeys the robots.txt exclusion standard, described at http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/exclusion.html#robotstxt. To ban adbeat robot from visiting your entire website, place the following in your robots.txt file:
User-agent: adbeat_bot
Disallow: /
To ban adbeat_bot from visiting a portion of your website, adjust the URL in the Disallow line to that specific portion of the website.
Please don't rely on meta tags like <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> - they will be ignored due to technology limitations.
