CPV Lab Doesn't Detect Conversions

Hi guys,

My CPV Lab doesn't detect conversions. Does that mean the PIXEL doesn't fire properly? Do I need to inform the cpa network?

Thanks for your help.

Yeah that could be the reason, try use a postback and see if it works. Some networks require an SSL (https) for pixels. For the time being, you can manually update your conversions by going to your reports on your aff network, copying the converting subids and pasting them into CPV Lab by going to 'Stats>>Update Stats with Converting Subids'.

In general, Postbacks are more reliable - I'd definitely try using a Postback.

Here's the STM guide to Postbacks if you need it - it has a CPVLab-specific section.

For CPVLab postback url, I assume you don't need it if you have in the settings "append subid to offer url" checked.

This guy wouldn't be needed: ?subid=

@itsjustbrian - "append subid to offer url" works on the offer URL (which sends data from CPVLab to your affiliate network), but not on postbacks (which send data from your affiliate network to CPVLab).

The guide I posted above has specific instructions for CPVLab - follow them and you should be fine! If that doesn't work or you have any questions, let me know.

what is the difference between image pixel and postback?

08-01-2013 03:06 AM #7 kyuss (Member)

A tracking pixel is a 1x1 image pixel that loads on the thank you page to track conversions and uses cookies. Post back is server to server and the info is sent directly to your tracking from your aff network. In my experience, both work well but postbacks have tracked conversions more effectively. Pixels didn't track a higher % of conversions.

Pixels are more persistent since it's cookie based, while post backs are more accurate since it's server to server (usually. it depends on how they fire it). So, cookies' advantage is that cookies can often times capture conversions even if the visitor comes back after like 30 days, while the post back is only as long as the session.

Here's a post on how the whole sub ID/tracking works:

Subid pixel? Not sure what you mean there - that URL looks like a standard CPVLab Postback. Can you link to where you heard the term "subid pixel" or explain more?

As suggested by Caurmen... the url format http://cpabusiness99.com/adclick.php?subid= has worked as a postback in cpvlab for me...

Thanks to Tom for skype chat support

Actually, the skype chat was regarding setting up the postback between network and POF Pro platform. Tom is the head so he guided me to set up the postback with POF PRo and my network.

At the same time he clarified my doubts with sub id and postbacks. Now coming to your concern about the postback the url structure you have shown is correct till "=". Remove any thing or string after = , it works for sure in cpvlab.

@cpasuperstar - what affiliate network are you trying to get your conversion tracking working with?

08-06-2013 01:22 PM #15 cpasuperstar (Member)

Is this Postback?

I am working with w4

Ah, right - they're using HitPath, I believe. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the process of setting up a postback on HitPath - anyone?

Your best bet is probably to contact your Affiliate Manager and ask them how you would best set up a Postback on their system - they should be able to point you in the right direction.

iframe pixels usually work best with W4. For me, image & Postback pixels have always had issues on W4's platform..

This would be your iframe pixel:

I'm currently have the same issue with W4 and CPV Lab.

With your suggestion above, which pixel type do you choose? W4 only gives you 2 options in their drop-down menu, either Post Back or Image. Which one do you select? Or does it not really matter?

02-01-2014 08:44 AM #21 bbrock32 (Administrator)

Both of them will work.

If you select image , it will look like <img src="http://cpabusiness99.com/adclick.php" width="1" height="1" border="0" />

If you select postback it will look like

Thanks bbrock32 but I was wondering about the suggestion on how to use the iframe pixel in W4 as suggested by starrmikeh since he said that worked out best for him. I had previously used a postback but it didn't seem reliable?

How would you enter an iframe pixel in W4 since the only options in their drop-down menu for pixel-type only show Post Back or Image?

starrmikeh - not sure if you're still checking this thread here, but could you please clarify how you setup the iframe pixel in w4? there is no 'iframe' option in w4??

or perhaps someone else who might know?

and does maybe having an SSL installed on the tracking domain affects things? i asked my AM this and my AM didn't really seem to know, was kind of like, maybe that might help? why don't you try!

doesn't ring of confidence and i don't want to have to purchase and install something unnecessarily.

anyone know how to use a iframe pixel with w4 or know anything about ssl being required on the tracking domain?

thanks for any info everyone!
