In short: Government wants all internet providers to block porn by default, customers can then choose themself to turn it back on.
UK adult market will take a big hit due to this... or am I wrong? What do you guys think?
Not sure how there going police this but i am in the UK with mobile phone that already blocks porn if using 3g network has done since started the contract 3+ years ago
i just switched WiFi off on my phone and visited adult friend finder and got
"The site you tried to visit is restricted to over 18s."
To remove this filter call us blah blah blah...
You will need a MasterCard or Visa which will be charge £1 which we will refund to your phone bill
The problem is there has been a few papers in UK calling for this for last year or so but not sure how they going police it does it go by keywords
If they go through with this they will fuck it up and there be a load complaints about certain sites not being able to be accessed anything to do with the internet they fuck up
I remember a friend that works for a company that owns a lot porn sites he was there designer, said a lot adult companies apparently invested money and created porn blocking software for parents to use because kids don't have credit cards
and just use up bandwidth this was like 8 years ago tho before all these free tube sites when there where mostly membership sites
affiliate marketing is dead
I'm in Malaysia and it has been sometime since the local ISP blocked quite a number of porn sites. Especially the top ones. Anyway... Malaysia... who cares?
In 2014, all new broadband subscribers should declare whether they want access or not to adult sites.
Those willing to browse through adult will get them to remove it anyway. Personally I doubt that will be much of a gamechanger except for the underage traffic which is hard to monetize for us anyway.
I'm pretty confident they'll either do it free of charge or bill it via the mobile number contract as I doubt they'll stick to only CC for that.
kokofai, why underestimate Malaysia?
I had some good conversions from there
I don't think it will affect it at all. People will still turn on porn and watch it anyway. As long as people are allowed to access it legally in the country then they will go through the new barriers to watch it. Porn will never die.
I don't agree with it, but I don't see it giving affiliates any problems.
Those seeing our ads are probably going to be more qualified than they were before.
I suppose there could be a small volume drop, but nothing to affect the ROI.
Can see those "Cameron Doesn't Want You to Get Laid" ads already.... "These girls do..."
I wouldn't worry about this. I know a bunch of people involved in the politics behind this stuff, and the general consensus is that it's Cameron making a lot of noise for no reason, and with no real intention of changing anything significant. He's just trying to appeal to Mumsnet voters.
On the other hand, it IS making a lot of noise in the press, so...
Good luck to stop people watching porn.
Cameron is a clown, like all politicians in lack of presence in the media.
