Noob question .... Spend on Promote the post or Post Engagement

What are the differences, what seems to reach more people?

I am a bit confused as I had both spending yesterday and equal amount and it seems promoting the post AKA the post the post tab got me more clicks then just the straight forward spend on a post engagement.

I hope what I am asking makes sense, I am still new to this and often times when I am trying to ask a question I confuse myself even more in trying to explain the question so that others can understand what I am speaking about.

I believe most people running Facebook are running conventional sidebar ads, so I'm not sure how many people are doing Promoted Posts. But I'll be interested to see what more FB-specialised members say!

See I am finding more and more ads pops up on my news feed rather than on the sidebar which leads me to believe that most people are promoting the posts. I too would love to know how must people are running which is why I made the post. Hopefully someone chimes in here soon.

Well, I don't run affiliate stuff on FB, but I do advertise on FB (for the other side of my business), and my limited tests with Promoted Posts have been pretty disappointing, showing very poor to no results. On the other hand, possibly because I'm advertising outside the standard affiliate demographics, I've been finding sidebar ads are absolutely killer for ROI - I've been seeing $0.01 clicks and high engagement rates after that.

(In fact, that's the reason that I stopped testing affiliate offers on FB - it's SO high-value for my 100% legit stuff that I don't want to risk an account ban.)

The fact that I'm getting such poor results with Promoted Posts might just imply that I don't know what the fuck I'm doing with Promoted Posts, though Would definitely be interested to hear from anyone getting good ROI from them.

Did you try out the promoted posts yet Jason? How did it work out for you?
