I know everyone raves on about the need for a VPS over shared hosting, but I was wondering..
If someone is using BevoMedia, what is the point of VPS when the tracker is hosted on their servers?
Thanks guys
people prefer self hosted tracker, not the other way round
Well, where are you going to host landers?
If you're using a non-self-hosted tracking solution like Bevo, then shared hosting does become more viable - but I'd still recommend going for a VPS.
Why? Because on a shared host, you still don't have protected resources. If someone else on your host machine gets linked from the front page of Hacker News, their success means your slow-loading landers, because if one person on the box is overloading the server, everyone's pages get slowed down.
By contrast, you can run a really minimal VPS if you're just serving landing pages, and know that you don't have to worry about the neighbours - your pages will only be affected by things you are doing.
agree ^ .. for the sake of $10 a month you can get a decent US vps for hosting your landers.. like intovps or burst.net etc..
Well I use this combo.
Bevo(noticed they use Amazon CloudFront for amazingly fast redirect!) and VPS with SSD, So my lp's load quickly.
