Does AVG. Network EPC constitute taking/not taking on an offer?

Hey Stackers,

Just curious if anyone can help clear this up. Whenever I log into a network and look at EPC's for offers, it always makes me think twice about whether I should promote the product or not. When I see high EPC's I think my traffic source is too low quality/not in the right part of the funnel. When it's low, I wonder whether I can hit that as a target or lower for that matter!

Any help would be appreciated. Been trying to make this stuff work on and off for about 18 months. More into this time around and could use any sound advice at this point!

it's a good indication if the EPC is high from what you see in the network. But it doesn't mean it is a bad offer when you see the EPC is lower. Because everyone uses a different method/traffic source. So just take it like an index. and then plug them in to test it for yourself.

Network EPC is pretty useless IMO; I have seen great offers' EPC being "destroyed" by affiliates direct linking UK loan offers on PPV networks targetting US, as an example.

Ask your rep for the top offers among the top 10-20 affiliates.

EPCs are an extremely unreliable guide unless you know WHY they're that high or that low. Normally you don't know how or why a high EPC is high - perhaps because someone's got an exclusive traffic source from SEO that performs very well, perhaps just because a single super-affiliate has picked up on that particular offer and is killing it.

Likewise, low EPC can just mean no-one with a clue has given it a try yet, or they haven't given it a try on your preferred traffic source, or in the way you're planning to do it.

When asking about EPCS ask what type of traffic affiliates are sending and if they're using a lander or not. Should give you a better idea of what EPC to expect with the marketing you're doing.

It is usually a pretty unreliable way to know how to run an offer unless your AM knows what type of traffic you buy (mobile, pof, fb, etc) and can give you an idea of what EPC other affiliates are getting with the same traffic.

network epc is worthless, if you can get data on what's getting volume, that's where the $ is. Volume report > epc report.

Agree with keepitsimple here. Obviously where the volume's at, there's the money. With EPCs being pretty much distracted by tons of factors (like if it's hitting organic traffic you can bet the EPC will close to double for that affiliate) while you won't reach anything similar on paid. Just ask your AM what's doing good and what offers are hot. Then spy around and check if the offers are running. If both is given, pretty much take it guaranteed it's converting.
