TJ Clicks right after uploading ads

Hey Stackas,

recently I'm experiencing a pretty bot looking click pattern right after uploading new creatives to campaigns or creating campaigns on TJ. I'm pretty much sure it's up on TJs end, because filling in the URL for mass submission I usually use something like &keyword=NAMEBANNER to replace the name later on. I ALWAYS got 1 click to 'NAMEBANNER' and 1 click to each ad after editing it as well.

Clicks are coming in the majority from US, but a bunch from Spain, Libanon, Mexico and other countries too.

I talked to TJ about that once back, according to them they don't use any kind of bot clicks right after submission to verify the URL or similar stuff.

Anybody experiencing same on TJ or has an idea what it could be ?

EDIT: around 3/4 of the clicks have ads.trafficjunky.net in the referer while some are blanked as an additional info.

Hey man , about how many clicks are we talking about?

Exactly 1 click per ad plus 1 click to the initial URL I input when bulk uploading ads.

That might be the approvers clicking on the ads to check the lander.

Also , let's see if trafficjunky wants to comment on this , they have an account on the forums.

Nope the approvers are coming with the referral manwin.xxxxx and probably don't have Lebanon IPs. Beside that, the ads are NOT approved after those clicks. None of those clicks clicks on the LP neither. Would be interesting to hear what TJ says about this.

It's the TJ bot. URLs are auto checked on upload.

You got that confirmed by TJ? Just asking cause a rep told me they don't use a bot.

Hi fjk87 ,

If it’s one click, and it’s right after uploading a creative then it’s definitely the ad being approved. We click on the ad to check the landing page. What I can’t explain is the IPs from other countries ( we’re located in Canada). There are no bots running, the approval is all manual. We do use a proxy for foreign landers but you should still see a Canadian IP on the click.

We can look into it if you send us more information. Is this happening with all your ads? Any specific ad IDs we can look check out? Can you provide us with screen shots showing the foreign IPs. Get back to me at warren@trafficjunky.net .

Best Regards,
Warren

I've noticed the same thing for quite sometime. Upload like 40 ads using the multi upload then all ad urls are clicked immediately and they seem to be private lan ips though in some cases.

Warren I gonna ping you tomorrow as it's pretty damn late in here already. Those are NOT the clicks from approval and they are all from US based IPs for the majority. I'll ping you on skype tomorrow for a more detailed discussion.

It's very likely this is an automated check of the URL. If their system does a request of the URL to check it exists then it will show up and this is the most likely explanation if the clicks happen immediately after submission or editing. Does it do this at any time of day, even when you expect slow approval? In some cases even the platform reps might not realise this happens because it's something that doesn't involve them, i.e. maybe only the techs who coded the platform are aware of it.

As for the weird IPs, could be the database your using mismatches them to another country. The databases aren't perfect.

there's always clicks within a minute or so after upload on TJ - (but you never get charged for it), it's not a big deal - but yes to confirm, it happens to all of us. That being said, traffic junky is legit as fuck. The traffic on TJ gives ~30-40% ctr on landers, whereas exo traffic gives ~15% ctr on the exact same banners and landing pages. Just be thankful TJ doesn't pad their bottom line with fake traffic like some adult networks

@Zeno: always happens, no matter what time / what country so I think it's automated bot clicks.

@keepitsimple: I don't have a problem with it, quality on TJ is way better due to the sites receiving a shitload of organic traffic fully agree here. Just curious because the first statement I had it's not form them, so my idea was it's something jacked up in the system or somebody found a loophole to get notified when ads are submitted or whatever.

About Exo, experiencing same, but could be a different demographic too. I got creatives/lander on exo that are performing similiar to TJ, but they are completely different. Fact alone they allow animations will give you a big disadvantage using non-animated stuff that works like a charm on TJ
