Good guides on creating landing pages? (12)

Good guides on creating landing pages?

Hey guys,

I'm not a completely clueless newb, I can copy and modify existing landing pages I see out on the web. I can modify basic things (txt, colors, fonts, images) and remove/install tracking codes. And I can install wordpress/change themes.

But I feel that in order to really let me creativity flow through (and thus make a ton more money), I need to be able to create a landing page from scratch. Nothing super fancy, but enough to have custom layouts, create my own quiz, and other things like that.

So, do you guys know any good guides/tutorials out there that can specifically teach me to develop these sorts of landing pages? I don't care about creating a full website, since that's easy enough with a wordpress installation, or I'd just hire someone cheap.

Any thoughts and feedback guys?

Thanks!!!

Definitely check out Unbounce.

It's drag and drop and perfect for someone who can't code or design, like myself. You can build one page landing pages in minutes and there are lots of options.

As far as guides, check out their blog - http://unbounce.com/blog/

Yeah, I've heard of them before. Can you use them on your own domain? And have you had much success on your campaigns using them?

I'd strongly recommend getting hold of Adobe Muse. It's a very accessible, drag-and-drop visual HTML editor, and should get you up and running designing LPs fast!

Ooh, thanks man! This looks really cool, I think I'll have to test it out!

Yes, you can use them on your own domain. You can use a root domain or any subdomain. It's a pretty simple set up.

Yes, we have had success with it. We run pay per call campaigns and we've made some good converting landers for mobile and desktop traffic. It was also simple to implement ringpools with Unbounce for more advanced tracking.

I may be an old timer, but photoshop and html work great!

I don't really have a problem with photoshop, but I'm not good enough with HTML to make custom landing pages. I can only rip and modify existing ones that's why I was looking for another solution (unbounce/Muse I might have to try)

Not sure if these have been mentioned but easel.io, jetstrap & adobe muse should do it. Muse is actaully great for quickly busting out tests etc.

Snap.

What about WordPress and OptimizePress? That's a pretty good and inexpensive way to create landing pages, is it not?

For simple middleman landers I would stay well clear of anything Wordpress-related. Wordpress has it's place, that place is on a different continent to the high-performance, fast loading simple landers you generally want for most campaigns.

My combo is: Adobe Photoshop + Muse + Dreamweaver + Firefox + BrowserStack + [CSS Compressor/Dirty Markup/Minfying stuff] and of course lots of snippets/little tools to make things quicker (e.g. CSS generation for buttons etc).

True to an extent, but we're talking about getting set up.

You don't have to make WordPress complex either, and if you run it with caching and a cdn you can get landing pages to load fast enough, imo.
