Cartoonifying Your Ads

I've been playing around with cartoon style effects on my banners recently. You can get some pretty interesting results, depending on the niche.

This is a nice free tool for cartoonifying just about anything:

http://www.cartoonize.net/

Just upload your banner and apply the various filters. Works best on creatives with a lot of contrast and minimal background noise.

Try split testing some cartoon versions to see if it improves your CTR. They can be visually jarring on the page.

...A bit like Peter Griffin hanging out of the back of Lois in a Family Guy porn scene...

(Which I'm sure most of you have seen!)

It's also a nice tactic for those of you who are paranoid about sending your creatives and landing pages to be approved by a merchant (less common in adult, but now rife in mainstream dating). Cartoonifying the shiz out of everything is an extra layer of protection, albeit a small one.

Doesn't work all the time, but a useful style to test.

Nice find i bought the software when i read this post earlier and been playing around with the filters on a few random images, The filters work well on some pictures but not others with a lot shadows etc..

Did email the support to see if they can update the software to select more then 1 filter at a time which will be better to convert image to all filters with a few clicks rather then one by one

Few of there filters on a random image

Doesn't photoshop have most of these filters?

Cool, never thought of doing something like that. We hired a guy on Fiverr to "cartoonify" our profile images, but didn't think of trying it for banners on media buys.

I found a cool ps action that does something similar. It redraws the image to look like a chalkboard drawing. Pretty cool effect.
