Target Romania or go for the higher paying markets? (18)

Target Romania or go for the higher paying markets? Newest trends?

Hi all.

I am new to the forum and I am glad to have joined this amazing community. I have read threads like crazy since I joined yesterday.

I have 12+ years of online business experience and now I am getting back in the CPA game(been doing dating few years ago). One of my main websites www.softworld.com got hit badly by a google update and I have decided to not focus on seo anymore(at least not exclusively) and getting back to paid traffic generation.

I love to ride new trends and markets(imo this provide the best fast growth opportunities and it's where I did the best in the past) and so far this are the options I am researching and trying to pick one to start testing in:

1. Go for the Romanian market(I am romanian). Hard to find offers and many are low payout or I haven't found the right network for this. Local knowledge, access to very cheap traffic, 20m+ people with wide broadband and mobile penetration and way less experienced competition are some of the reasons why I am considering this.

2. Jump on the mobile bandwagon(or even mix this with Romania?). Probably the biggest new trend.

3. Media buys. With access to exchanges like site scout this looks very promising - access to global and scalable audience yet relatively low cost testing. There must be billions of monthly impressions from where to squeeze more than the curent advertisers.

4. Software/downloads/games - as I own softworld.com and I personally like the industry this is appealing. I am yet to find a scalable business model. Also huge, growing and evergreen niche.

5. Dating and/or Adult - from what I see everyone copies everyone(especially in adult). From what I understand dating is all about angles. Both evergreen markets with huge traffic.

I am treating this as a business and trying to build scalable campaigns in evergreen niches while building my own assets(websites, mailing lists...).

I often see advice on going after less saturated markets and I don't know if Romania is worth building a CPA business around and if so where to find offers for it. And provided it is profitable what criteria should I use to determine if to pursue one of the new trends above or go for the country?

Would it be worth for someone that has campaigns running to JV with me and scale those into the romanian market?

All feedback and advice from your own point of view considering my above criteria is much appreciated.

I will start a Follow Along thread as soon as I decide in which direction to go.

Thanks,
Adrian

Well, in CPA, a market is only as good as the best offers available in it. I'm not familiar with the Romanian market, and I haven't seen many offers touted for it. Could be completely wrong there though - it could be sizzling with activity for all I know.

I would definitely stop short of combining Mobile and Romania until you're very familiar with at least one of them!

Personally, I think you should focus on nailing down your niche first (or traffic source at the very least). A lot of people are successful by mastering a platform or a niche, but I've yet to meet too many affiliates who got by through knowledge of a country alone.

Best of luck!

There are some offers for romania, mainly mobile subscriptions (pin submits).. seen some that pay $1.40 etc.. but its not about being low paying, it's whether they convert. It can be 0.50 payout if it converts like toffeee....

I see tons of diet ads ran through media buys, but from the looks of it the advertisers run directly. Try scouting sites like cancan, click, etc.

Salut Adrian, I am happy to see romanian people here, don't tell the secrets about RO, lets keep it for us, joking
Good luck!

I seen those as I scouted the romanian media for few hours. From what I seen the most popular use "fake news" landers. On top of diet there are also bizzopp run frequently.

How do you know it's the advertisers directly?

Happy to see romanian people as well. Do you run CPA on Romania or going after other markets?

My skype is adrian.nutiu if any of you wants to befriend me.

I'm not too sure about Romanian offers, but this is the legendary battle of going after less saturated and less familar markets vs going after the big well known markets. They both have pro's and cons. I'm a fan of lesser known markets/areas, and i think you have a big advantage being Romanian assuming there are actually decent offers.

The language advantage you've got will definitely be significant if you go for Romanian markets, particularly if you're diving into a slang-heavy vertical like adult.

From what you've said, I'd recommend looking around for adult offers and traffic in Romania. It's not the only possible vertical for you, but it's a reasonably good one to begin with, it'll maximise your language advantage and it's not as hard to master as mobile.

However, I don't know the Romanian market either, so if you get advice specific to that, ignore me and listen to them.

Whatever you do, remember to stick with it and not jump around!

Looking forward to your follow-along!

I haven't seen much romanian offers that would give you an edge knowing the language.

I've see couple porn VOD mobile subscriptions but you don't need a lot of selling there

I would focus on other countries / niches to get started.

I think you are over-estimating your ability to dominate this market just because you're Romanian. I've done a lot of volume in Brazil but I don't speak the language, never been to that country, and don't really know much about it other than they have hot women. At the end of the day, humans all respond to the same basic marketing, regardless of cultures.

Instead you should be following the money. Promote in countries with established offers / paying market and develop your skills there. Romania just doesn't sound like a big market.

Hey Adrian, welcome to STM! As an AM who operates in 30+ countries (and eastern European brother, almost neighbor ) I can tell you that Romania can be lucrative. It's currently outperforming Poland in terms of revenue for me as of late Poland got really competitive.. Romania still isn't there.

As motivation, some revenues from a few Romanian campaigns this year:

What type of offers work for you in the romanian market? Which networks carry them?

Robert, that tracking dashboard looks sick!
Will it ever be released for public?

Definitely a few games and pin submits...and also look for offers that accept traffic from all markets (the sleazier dating, etc). and I think there's something to be said for nice ROI on low volume campaigns running in the background as long as the time commitment to maintain it is minimal... helps level out the valleys that come with your peaks.
