Hey guys,
I was reading forum and found that many of you are getting 0.01 - 0.05 CPC which sounds great
My campaigns get suggested CPC on around 0.70 GBP and normally it costs me around 0.90 GBP which is hard to fight against. I have a good CTR 0.03% but CPC price stays the same. Now doing CPM with best images and getting CPC for about 0.5 GBP, which is still too high. I am testing new images and bigger segmentation which should allow me to get cheaper clicks. Also planning to do day parting. But when offer(game, converts on registration) pays 1.6$ it is very hard considering CR is good 8-20% on my clicks.
My question would be:
What is your average CPC? Do you have this by CPC or CPM promotion?
Any tips to get CPC lower?
Hey harke!
Welcome to STM. I'm a newbie by all means, and I'm just starting to get a grasp of the beast that is FB. You'll find some pretty good advice in here from some pretty experienced folks.
Now, I can tell you that 0.03%CTR is NOT good. Actually is quite bad and that's the reason you are getting such highs cpc's. You need to get much higher CTR's (0.XX range at least) to bring those cpc's down.
Of course it depends on the country. For example: I can get 0.02 cents cpc in LATAM, but can't get below 0.40 in Australia (much more competition, hence the high price).
My take is: work on those ads and focus on getting those CTR's up. There are many threads in the forum that address this particular issue.
Good luck!
- .03 CTR is horrible, .10% CTR should be your baseline. Split test more.
- Don't be obsessed over cheap clicks. It's easy to get .01 clicks in India, but there's not many high converting offers. Some demographics like women in USA will cost a lot more, but have better offers. Click prices reflect supply / demand. All that matters in the end is your profit.
- Don't get "stuck" with that game offer. There's plenty of offers out there that pay over double that and convert higher than 20%
- Only way to decrease cpc is to increase CTR. I focus 95% of my efforts on the images.
- Looks like you should also focus on the other parts of your funnel besides just the ads / targeting. Don't neglect testing landing pages, different offers, etc.
As others have already mentioned, 0.03 CTR is not very good. Now, if you actually meant 0.3 CTR then that would be different. Without knowing what your demo is, it can be pretty hard to say what a good CPC would be. CPCs can vary a lot from country to country. Then factor in age range and gender and they can change a lot. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is that your EPC > CPC. It doesn't matter if you pay $2 CPC as long as your earning more than that. I know a lot of the guys who run diet often pay much higher CPCs than I would want to pay for my dating campaigns.
I do generally shoot for single digit CPCs on my dating stuff but in the end, it doesn't matter as long as you're profitable.
To answer your questions:
I do straight CPC and I have been averaging 3-5 cent CPCs. Don't be discouraged though. It wasn't that long ago that I was averaging 0.25 CPCs
Sorry, I don't have any special tips to help you get them lower. Everyone's campaigns and targeting can be different and the only way to find what will work for you is to be constantly testing new things and tweaking things.

I would highly suggest looking at what other advertisers are doing and imitating similar strategies.
When bidding on a CPC basis, to give every creative a fair shot, you need to start your bids at the upper end of the suggested range and collect sufficient data (at least 10K impressions each). Why bid high initially? The position of your ads will be higher, which should yield higher CTRs and have a ripple effect. Testing and optimizing ads can be very costly, so I would suggest looking at what advertisers are doing in more mature markets (in your case this would be United States), and replicating the same strategies in your target market. When assessing advertisers, keep in mind that the higher an ad's position, the more competitive their CPM rates are (likely as a result of high CTRs). These ads will be fresh to your audience, and you know with certainty that they work based on data from a more competitive market, so you can comfortably bid high and allow your bids to lower themselves as the CTRs establish.
I just started my first ad, my offer was a mainstream dating offer green on mywot. I didn't zoom in on the boobs or anything, the picture is a regular profile pic and my account got a "Ad Manager Error" I hope I don't get banned... I received a few clicks though.
