JULY UPDATE - OK, I've just sent out the next newsletter, which should have sorted out the delivery problems. Let me know if you get it, and what you think if so!
--
Hey there!
So, we've been discussing ways to make Stack That Money even better, and one of the things we've decided to start doing is an email newsletter, highlighting some of the must-read threads from the past little while on the forums.
There's just so much information and traffic on Stack That Money - that it can be easy to miss some of the great nuggets of info that come up.
So I'm going to be rounding up the best, brightest, and most useful bits for everyone from new affiliates to old hands and sending 'em to you in one easy-to-read package.
The first newsletter's going out today - let me know what you think! Have I missed anything? Are there too few or too many threads? How often would you like to see these? Did it even arrive at all?
All feedback very gratefully received!
Hey Caurmen,
Great idea! But I didn't receive any newslette though
I also didn´t receive a newsletter
Dunno if that's technically possible, but a great feature would be a 'recommend this' button which shows up on your backend which threads / posts are marked as recommend by several members. Would certainly save a bit of time if everybody's participating on your guys end to collect those puppies.
^^ this
PS: I didn't receive a newsletter too.
Hmm, right, looks like we've got a Newsletter Delivery Problem. I'll look into that.
I did get the newsletter (even though I wrote it
) - did anyone else receive it yet?
Also, the recommendation idea is a damn good one, thanks!
Got it, awesome!
Great idea.
I'm pretty sure there's a way you could automate this - once a week email with the most commented posts / views
I got it. I agree with dr_ngo that's a great idea and once a week would show us what we might have been missed.
Didnt get it mate, love the recommend idea.
I received it (using Gmail). Good stuff!
received it, great idea!
Thanks for the feedback, guys!
@dr_ngo - That's definitely a good idea. I might split-test it for a bit with manually-curated newsletters. It basically comes down to whether the value add from manual curation outweighs the time factor. Ofc, I could always combine the two...
@everyone_who_didn't_get_it_yet - I'm going to go double-check mail settings just now. You may see it today!
I really enjoyed reading this! It did highlight some really great threads that I completely missed. Really great value added. Thanks!
Hmm didn't get it yet
Looks like there is some problem with aweber , I didn't get it either.
The newsletter could be put online as well maybe?
Also, the recommended button is a good idea. There's already a thanks button though, it might be redundant?
Off-topic, I was wondering if it was possible to see the post with most thanks somewhere
wouldn't mind seeing a rss feed
didnt receive a newsletter, wish i did tho
Right, I'll need to dig into this and find out what happened. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!
I'll post the text of the newsletter into the forum so you can check it out, in the meantime.
Quick update on this - I've figured out what happened that stopped the first newsletter from being delivered to everyone. In short, I did the initial send in two batches rather than one, and for some reason aWeber decided not to send the second batch to all email addresses on the list.
That should be fixed now.
I'm going to be sending out a new Must-Read Threads newsletter at the end of the week, so you should now see it without problems!
July Update
OK, I've just sent out another newsletter, having hopefully solved our delivery issues.
Let me know if it gets through, and if it does, what you think!
Didnt get any newsletter!
Got it. Nice roundup carumen!
Got it! Great stuff. When will they propose you for knighthood sir Caurmen?
i haven't received anything
Thanks guys!
@karim0028 - could you PM me your email address? I'll check if it's on our mailing list to make sure.
FYI: the most recent newsletter got flagged as "Promotion" by this new GMail feature.
