Wow, long page did horribly.

Also that split between the globe and the padlock...shizen 2-3x difference in CR??

A lot of the results were surprising. For example Intuit achieving a 200%+ increase in conversions. And we're talking about a big brand that sells pretty big ticket items. Also the seal of authenticity increasing sales 100%+, etc. We already know a lot of this info, but it's nice to see confirmation elsewhere.

I find that long vs short page interesting too, I almost never see that from my own tests on anything.

Just my 2cents..

Alot of optimization techniques revolve around the use of different elements, as well as different copy...

The longform has and will always typically do better. My gut feel on the example of above, is the long form copy just sucked alot of ass.

That page should have had the ten ways on top, and moving the testimonials to the bottom. Testimonials add de-risking psychology before a call to action... what are they de-risking from? The extra reading?

All this teaches me is to always split test everything!

Usually long pages have done better for me on almost ALL types of traffic, so i'll never guess or go with my gut.

Love KissMetrics

While I agree that long copy out-sells short copy from my own tests, there's a reason most affiliate bridge pages are short. There's a point of diminishing returns where you can pre-sell an offer too hard and lose too many clicks. Your conversion rate for those who do click will be insane, but if not enough people click, an improvement to the ROI is not guaranteed.

I see this quite a lot when I add a caption to my Rules LPs.

More users click through to the offer, but if they haven't been through the qualifying process, they are far less likely to convert. Sometimes the extra clicks will bump the ROI enough to justify using one. But as everybody says, testing is the only way to know for sure...
