Affiliate Summit East 2013

Hey everyone, time to get an ASE '13 thread going.

This will be my first ever affiliate conference and I'm really looking forward to meeting some STM'rs in real life. I'm planning on booking my trip within the next week or 2 and can't decide where to stay. It looks like the Philadelphia Downtown Marriot is already booked up so I should probably hurry. Also, trying to decide if I should get in the day before the conference (17th) or the first day and save on the cost of an extra night.

So...

Where is everyone staying?

What parties will everyone be going to?

Any word on an STM meetup?

Looking forward to hanging out and having some drinks with everyone!

Looking forward to ASE this year! It might not be as wild as ASW, but it's always good for biz.

No details about an STM meet just yet, still in discussion.

Have any major parties been announced yet?

06-25-2013 06:17 PM #3 starrmikeh (Member)

At ASW 2013 the convention itself was a complete waste of time and energy for me, but the parties were worth it. It was good to meet people from STM in person, and that penthouse was sick! ASW was actually a big turning point for me - some people gave me ideas, and a few weeks later I started making some serious money. I'll make the trip to Philly if there's going to be an STM party.

If I go I'm booking at the last second, going to Philly doesn't really excite me. I think Miami would've been a better choice if they wanted to do something different.

Damn I'm looking at flights now, not sure if I can make this one, about 25 hours of flying air time not including layover lol and it seems Philly isn't the best to check out from feedback, not to mention I'm drowning in work commitments haha.

100% will be making the STM meetup though, and of course... Sincity!

Philly is a strange pick. I agree something like Miami would have tickled my fancy a little more.

Just looking over the conference lineup for America this year, I'll probably choose Adtech NYC in November if I make the trip. Love me some NYC.

06-27-2013 02:36 PM #8 timtetra ()

Seriously, even if I were home in NYC during the convention, there's no way I'd go without some STM festivities, as going from NYC to Philly is the equivalent of going to Japan from the US just to eat McDonalds there. There's just nothing there that is redeeming or better

Going to be exhibiting at ASE13, hope to meet some of you dudes!

06-27-2013 04:57 PM #10 ndemandmike (Member)

swing by our booth and say hi

06-27-2013 04:59 PM #11 stackman (Administrator)

Philly cheese steak sandwiches sound a little enticing! Other than that I think Philly being the location of choice will hurt the convention a bit. Your goals of the trip will determine if its worth going to this year

06-27-2013 05:13 PM #12 pokersensei (Member)

Yeah not sure how Philly could have won the voting this year. Sounds like a cost savings measure haha.

06-27-2013 05:19 PM #13 ndemandmike (Member)

we are also having a dinner at a steakhouse they had alot of good ones to choose from so thats something else besides cheesesteaks to look for

06-27-2013 05:51 PM #14 doppelganger (Member)

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed that it was in Philly this year. I was hoping it would be in NYC again, I love it there. I'm still hoping to get to meet some of the people from STM there. My end goal by going is to hopefully do some networking and meet some new people as well as create better relationships with the people that I've met on here.

Pretty quiet for ASE this year to be honest, i havn't heard much. I'm assuming more stuff will come to light closer to the time

I think it's a combination of ASE being in Philly, and there's a LOT more options for meetups these days. A few years ago it was pretty much just ASE / Adtech. Now you have all these networks holding meetups (a4d, F5, Neverblue, Adsimilis, etc.). After a few conferences they hit a point of diminishing returns because you've pretty much met everyone, and I rather spend that 5 days working instead of traveling.

For me I consider ASW the "must go" conference, and then I'll go to network meetups depending on where they hold it. But yea my days of going to 5+ conferences a year are over.

p.s. good to see you last week!

07-03-2013 02:46 PM #17 stackman (Administrator)

Yep, that's a good point and ASW is the go to spot where everyone knows everyone will be.

yeah man, you came out of no where lol! It was a good night.

Adsimilis will be reppin and look forward to seeing your beautiful mugs again. Hopefully NOT in Philly next year though. There's 2 Kimpton's in the area. http://www.kimptonhotels.com/hotels/...ladelphia.aspx Discount code = FFR. I think it stands for "freaking favorite redirects" or something...

You betcha I'll be there - staying next door to the conference at the Hilton!

07-16-2013 07:22 PM #21 stackman (Administrator)

That reminds me i need to get a room asap. I'll be with Jaimmie & Mike sipping on vodka martini's before we head out for any evening events.

Working on an STM meetup as well

Where's all the parties?? I'll be at the hilton garden inn 18th-20th.. didnt even bother with an affiliate summit pass. I waste too much time on skype as it is, so I dont think i need to do anymore networking But if anyone wants to meet up and grab a drink and chat or something hit me up!

How are you guys getting in at the hilton still? I checked for an upgrade a couple of weeks ago and it was completely booked.

07-20-2013 03:22 AM #29 maynzie (Moderator)

They'll start popping up soon, theres a few out there at the moment, we usually put a thread together with the list of parties for you dudes anyway

Sad to miss this one, I absolutely love my half year breaks to chat with very like minded people

Would love if there is a STM meetup, have been at ASE and ASW the last few years and it has been great. I've never gone to the actual sessions, just exhibiting and what not, mostly networking.

08-05-2013 01:53 PM #35 mrzyxx (Member)

I am going as well staying at the Garden Inn

Nice, this is what I've been looking for. Looking forward to meeting some STM members in person. Sounds like some of you aren't gonna make it out to Philly (I don't really blame you). I guess that just means I'll have to make sure I go to ASW too !

-Aaron

08-06-2013 01:48 PM #40 dconstrukt (Member)

ya i mean, i go to the trade show.... bullshit with ppl for like 30 min to an hour.... then wtf do I do the rest of the trip other than party?

08-07-2013 06:12 PM #41 stackman (Administrator)

Just working out the details still

08-10-2013 08:38 PM #43 stackman (Administrator)

Alright, most of the meetup is in order. We just need a location.

Any philly locals here?
- Looking for something simple, low key, and big enough have 30+ people walk in at once!

08-13-2013 05:17 PM #44 krueger (Member)

Any updates guys? My girlfriend is from philly, I'll ask her later if she has any ideas for places

08-13-2013 05:19 PM #45 ThrvTrkr (Member)

Jordan, I haven't been back for a few years but lived there for 4 years.

Here are a couple suggestions:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/alma-de-cuba-philadelphia (3 floors, 1st floor is lounge, some dining spots, 2nd floor has smaller tables, 3rd floor has larger party seating) You'd probably want 1st.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/prime-lounge-philadelphia
http://www.yelp.com/biz/morimoto-philadelphia (More high-end/expensive)

I think you can probably get a deal with them.

Do it on Sunday! Monday is jammed.

08-15-2013 08:57 PM #46 stackman (Administrator)

Awesome thanks Tom! I found a good bar near alma on yelp which is perfect, they have some suave cocktails, fancy food and seems perfect for a casual meetup!

08-15-2013 09:04 PM #47 groomez (Veteran Member)

what about the bar from it's always sunny in Philadelphia? I'm sure no one will think of that. or is it just a set? idk, anyways...

here's a gif

08-16-2013 04:15 AM #48 fatmach (Member)

is there a meet up happening anywhere?
