Promoting Facebook Apps

Would be great if you could post a case study/campaign about how to promote facebook apps on social/ppv.

01-17-2011 11:29 PM #2 stackman (Administrator)

Sure! I have quite a bit of experience with them on Facebook.
I know 2 apps doing really well right now. 1 is converting at 30% across the board.

I'm promoting 1 of them, but the app isn't allowed on Facebook which really confuses me. They haven't shut the app itself down, but they don't let you advertise it. Anyways give me 2 days and I'll write up a guide on promoting these 2 specific apps on Facebook.

would that be the flirt app? i have to cloak to get this running but then i cant get a good enough ctr

01-18-2011 02:58 AM #4 stackman (Administrator)

Flirt & BeNaughty are both chart toppers. The CTR is the easy part, it's getting high CTR while not getting disapproved which is very hard. You have to find good images that won't alert Facebook so you can keep your ads running while still maining a decent CTR. I'll explain more in the upcoming post (aiming for wed evening)

Yes can't get these apps approved too. And yeah, its hard to get high CTR images approved. And at this moment its hard to get cheap clicks on FB US, even with hight CTR. cpc is killing me

Great stackman! Could you also show how you start off a Facebook campaign with regards to testing images? (How many images/ads do you usually start with, how many impressions/budget)

01-19-2011 05:58 PM #7 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

i usually use 10 images 3 headlines and 2 ad texts..

01-19-2011 08:47 PM #8 stackman (Administrator)

I usually use 50 images, 2 headline and 1 body text.
I'll go more indepth with the post.

For really quick tests to decide if a campaign is worth it i'll do it like nusolutionz and use 10 images, with only 1 headline/body.

Shoemoney did a very indepth case study and found images account for 70% of the CTR.

I'm still working on this case study btw, will be another few days. I'll be showing ad spend, CTR, ad images etc... It'll cover a LOT to do with dating on Facebook, which can also be applied to POF.

Blah! Just spent ~$100 on the first test campaign and wasted it on the wrong demographic!
Was targeting 19-29, and the offer only converts on 25+

Damn that's annoying. Happend to me too in the past on adwords..I was bidding $6.00 instead of $0.60..shit happens. But keep on testing..im very excited to see your post about the facebooks apps. I've done alot of volume to them in the last months and maybe you can show me another angle to run them ;-)

01-20-2011 12:38 AM #11 stackman (Administrator)

The case study itself is taking a pretty direct approach to promoting Dating related Facebook apps. I want to show people the basics because i feel some of the different 'angles' I'm taking to promote the offers are confusing people. I'll throw some ideas out there though

Sorry, this Facebook App case study is going to be a few extra days.
I'd rather put out a case study that you can take and make money from then a half ass one!

I've run into some issues which I'll explain in the case studythat will save you time.

01-21-2011 07:51 PM #13 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

np..quality over quantity ;-)

Like nuzolutionz said, quality over quanntity! thats what makes this forum worth the money... i've been on forums with case studies where the end results never been posted etc..

Anyway i'm glad you're giving us a heads up because i was waiting for this !

01-27-2011 03:17 PM #15 marcovandaar (Member)

How's it going with the case study?

01-27-2011 07:40 PM #16 stackman (Administrator)

I was just about to post here, I've spent a lot in testing and have a ton of info to share, but guess what just happened. Every major Facebook Dating App just got pulled from every network!
BeNaughty, Flirt, all the top apps! The only one left is Zoosk, and they are strict as fuck right now. You have to pre-send Zoosk all your ad images, landings and ad copy before you can do anything.

I'm testing my final idea for a campaign with dating lead offers tonight, so I'll have info in 2 days approx. I have to write it all up and it's a lot of info.

01-27-2011 07:46 PM #17 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

damn..but maybe you can post it anyway...i'm sure there will be new dating/game apps in the future.

01-27-2011 07:57 PM #18 stackman (Administrator)

Yep I'm going to, the results aren't too exciting, but it's a ton of info that will save you time and tell you exactly what you need to do to profit. The top performing Apps were dating apps, so i went with those, but I'll explain in the post.

01-27-2011 08:16 PM #19 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

i just read that the app offers will be back in 3 days on EWA ;-)

01-27-2011 08:46 PM #20 stackman (Administrator)

Sweet just saw that on twitter, so this will be useful after all!
So weird i was just talking to my AM asking him for alternatives and he didn't inform me...

01-27-2011 08:58 PM #21 marcovandaar (Member)

See, i got a mail today about the offer are set on pauze, thats why i posted here. But good to hear its coming back ... wonder how long these offers will keep running after this.

01-27-2011 09:00 PM #22 stackman (Administrator)

I'm sure they'll come back full force and there's always new ones popping up. Half of the top ones didn't exist 6 months ago.

02-03-2011 08:33 AM #23 nusolutionz (Veteran Member)

hey jason how's the facebook app case study going? any chance to get it up today? i'm working on such a campaign right now it would be great!

02-03-2011 08:51 AM #24 ppvnewbie (Member)

Seems like the apps are back

02-03-2011 08:58 PM #25 stackman (Administrator)

Sure I'll get it up tonight (about 6 hours from now). It's a LOT of writing.
It will be more of a trial and error guide because i couldn't profit. I had it running one way which was doing well in the past, but my campaign got disaproved. I'll explain it all.
