Gaming is more lucrative than Dating ?

Right now I'm wondering if gaming could bring more money than the dating vertical.

My shallow assumption is based on the only 2 facts that
- it seems more easy to find traffic (unless you're promoting a gaming offer with a risque landing page) therefore to scale
- the audience is bigger

What do you folks think ?

I doubt it's much of a difference. Biggest thing to look out when promoting an offer / vertical is if the niche is evergreen (consistent demand, consistently new products). Both is given here. People always will have free time and will be looking out for gaming, same goes for people always looking for the perfect partner or the quick bang dependent what kind of dating offers you promote.

In terms of traffic, I personally doubt that the amount of dating traffic is limited. Just think about all the angles you can do, a community for hiking lovers can prove a very solid source for finding your perfect hiking partner (rather ambiguous but I hope you get it right ).

In terms of user base I totally agree, but let me try to explain my concerns: I get banned from Facebook when I promote dating offers, most of Sitescout's publishers also are blocking dating creatives.
Probably I get a lot more of green lights if I choose a different vertical ?
BTW great answer as usual

Sounds like you kind of answered your own question there. That being said, with any vertical, it's going to have it's own set of challenges that you'll have to overcome. It's tough to make a statement like "there's more volume for gaming than dating" because this is assuming you're at a super affiliate level hitting xx,xxx / day. Until you hit that upper cap, I would say that the bottleneck is not so much the vertical, but the affiliate. If you think gaming is better, start testing it out. Different people have better luck / understanding of different verticals so it could turn into a goldmine for you. You won't know till you try it though, but gaming / gaming apps could be a great way to go.

there are people who are hitting dating hard but fail when they go and do gaming vertical...

When I was reading articles on my early days about which niche is good for blogging, almost every article use to state blog whatever you know most about. This thing applies here too, if one thinks he could do well in dating then dating is good for him. On the other hand a typical gamer who would have more of knowledge in gaming would certainly have an edge in gaming vertical because he would know what attracts Gamers.

Those are two niche that are always stable year in, year out as well as health, weath verticals. Diversify your business into all of them.

I don't think you can really separate those two niches with one having more long-term potential than the other. They're both staples of the affiliate diet and unlikely to disappear anytime soon.

That said, you're right that dating is going to get you more frowns from publishers (and therefore traffic sources) who don't want their websites plastered in ads that users find offensive.

The flipside to these niches, as fjk87 alluded to above, is that you can make a lot of money - from either - by monetizing completely unrelated content that happens to target the demographic you're searching for. If you focus on building assets instead of buying the traffic, it's pretty difficult to think of a demographic that can't be attacked with at least one of dating/gaming.

In terms of fastest niche to make money through arbitrage, I'd say... flip a coin - heads is dating, tails is gaming - take that answer, and then stick to it.

Pretty much what I think too. There are two kind of niches:

1) Hit and run. A product is hot. Hit it while it's hot, make a quick buck and let it die off.
2) Evergreen. Talking about diets, dating, loans, finance, gambling, gaming, basically everything people are interested in over and over again. There'll always be the next loan somebody needs, there always be that new game somebody wants to play, there always will be that next round of blackjack or roulette. Probably more longterm oriented.

Pretty much sure there are people killing it in EVERY niche, you just gotta stick to 1 thing and 'master' it to start that process imo.

Yeah, there's definitely money to be made in both gaming and dating. When you say finding traffic is easier for gaming, it really depends on the offers and sources you're looking at. The risque dating ads that are frowned on from some sources, are welcomed by others. Both dating and gaming have a number of subniches that really opens up possibilities, too. With gaming there are browser games, downloads, mobile, INTL, apps, etc. Dating has mainstream, relationship based, adult/hookup, INTL, gay, mature, single parents, BBW, christian, jewish, and all kinds of other niches. Many of these markets are competitive, but there are still numerous traffic sources for both.

Easy answer, you can't compare the 2 at all.

Both are mega lucrative depending on how you run it.
