Hi guys
How do I split test a dating campaign with facebook ads? I have different ads copies and creatives.
I'm a newbie, pls use layman's terms.
Thanks.
Looks like you're interested in focusing on the creatives. My suggestion is to just think of a good enough headline / ad copy, and just your time on split testing the images. The images will make more of an impact than anything else, 80 / 20 rule.
As for how to split test creatives...lets use gaming in USA as an example, 25-30 men. Create a campaign and have 5 different ads. They should all be identical except for the images, because that's what you're testing for. Think of it like a science experiment where you want to limit your variables to get the most accurate results.
Facebook ads tend to be approved at different times so pause your campaign until all the ads are approved. You don't want a situation where a bad ad gets high CTR because it was approved at 6pm, while the good ad gets a low CTR because it was approved at 1am and started running.
A lot of guys think the "winner" is whatever the highest click-through rate ad is...which is only part of the equation.
You should have proper tracking setup, CPVlabs or Prosper202. Make sure each ad gets a unique tracking link so that you can see which one converts as well. (unique tracking link is just as simple as &keyword=name of the ad).
I've seen guys bleed money without realizing it because even though their ads were high CTR and low CPC, they just weren't converting.
So that's just ads. You can use the same concepts for split testing gender, age brackets, etc.
Don't forget to test landing pages and offers on the backend.
Keep hustling cuz
Great summary!
Really really listen to the tip about pausing the campaign until all creatives are approved! I didn't do that the other day, and it competely screwed the validity of my test.
great post and replies guys...
curious.
and how would you then split test the winner from the first campaign?
Ive got a campaign i'm running now.... had 8 different ads, 1 really took off... getting like .154% CTR
and lots of clicks.... $50 daily budget
need to test the images because that gets the biggest bump from what i'm reading...
just not sure how to set it up the right way....
duplicate the campaign? setup a new one with the same targeting? 1 ad per campaign at this point?
thats where i'm getting held up.
@dconstrukt
Setup a completely new campaign, and give each ad a separate subid, unless i'm misunderstanding?
@Stack.... gotcha... but then are you adding more than 1 ad per campaign to that 2nd campaign?
here's the thing... seems like FB gives you random impressions if theres more than 1 ad in a campaign.. right?
so why not just setup 1 ad per campaign... same ad, different image..... then you should be able to get equal distribution and see no?
dunno... just SEEMS like it would make sense... but i'm bowing to you guys better judgement on this.
