$200,000+ in profits this year (52)
I started AM (paid traffic) with $4000 around June 2012. Previously I had made a couple of small sites with adsense on them, but they never made me any money.
I started with Adcenter because I found some vouchers for free adspend. Made about $1000 in my first month and was very happy even though I had spent about $7000 in vouchers. I had to read a lot of books about everything to get my first campaign setup.
Next I bought a subscription to STM. I guess this was the turning point in my life. I spent weeks reading every single post on STM, wrote down stuff that I thought was important and decided to try some new traffic sources.
At that time, the Facebook subsection was very active. So I decided that this was going to be my primary traffic source. I made ads for dating apps but couldn't get anything profitable.
Then I subscribed to lotsofads and socialadninja. I think this played a major role in getting me profitable on FB. I could see what others were running, what was actually working and it made me realize that my ads/images were very very lame.
So I spent another week or so just browsing around these two spy tools and gathering info. I noted down all the points that I found common among most of the long-running ads and mixed all of that to create my own LP and ads.
I wasn't making any substantial money and in October I decided to start a follow along. This was one of the best decisions I ever made. It made me feel accountable and I started working harder and systematically. You can read it here: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ebook-my-bitch
I kept modifying my LP and ads until I got them profitable with a decent ROI. I was running ads in non-english countries...mostly Latin America. A couple of XXX days and I thought I had made it 
Then came the emails from my AM. Pause this, pause that, pause everything :/
I had to start from scratch because the quality of my leads was very poor. I changed everything on my LP, changed my ad copy and started again. This time things were different...ROI was low compared to earlier, but my AM said that quality is good and he lifted daily caps for most offers.
I started duplicating the campaign to other countries. In some it worked as it is, in others I had to keep modifying the lander to get it profitable. Meanwhile I had also made some more LPs and started rotating them until I found the best performer for each country.
By October end, I was making about $500/day. By mid november, around $1000. But the real money came when I hit some high ROI campaigns this year.
From Jan to May 31st, I have made more than $200,000 in profits. All from running dating on FB. Still going strong 
I have been experimenting with Mobile, Adult etc...but haven't found anything good yet. But it looks very promising. My next target is to hit $1000/day with Adult!
ps. $200,000 is considered a huge sum in India. sort of a milestone. that's why I thought this is an appropriate time to create this thread.

Very good job, you certainly have the right mindset to make it in this industry. You also understand the concept of "don't put all your eggs in one basket", since you're looking at other traffic sources already. I personally went from dating on FB to adult as well, even though it's different, you can still use a lot of the same concepts in this. Good move!

$200K in India is like DEMI-GOD STATUS. It's a huge sum of money in 5 months.
A very inspiring story. But I feel sorry for you because I guess 30% of $200000 will be snatched away by our INDIAN tax authorities.Also I learnt recently that opening a limited liability company can reduce your risks of loss incase of any legal situations. You never know when our authorities strike you for absolutely no reason. So consider opening a company if you havent yet, because $200000 a huge huge amount here.
