Switched to MaxCDN and conversions tanked!

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this before.... Running US traffic and the server is in the US.....

I was getting conversions before i switched to a CDN and as soon as i switched to a CDN i noticed that i am getting almost no conversions...

I am testing campaigns so its not alot of adspend but to go from 10-15 conversions with 100usd ad spend to 1 conversion per 100usd spent seems to be the CDN is making me lose conversions?

I dont really know if its the CDN or offer getting old or LP's getting old or what.... But, ive been using new ads. The only thing is the CDN that is really different...

What do you guys think? Has anyone run into this before?

So far, I've spent 200usd and gotten 2 conversions...

-H

You said you're using new ads. How many ads? How much spent per ad? Maybe your new ads simply aren't performing and it's pure coincidence for this happening at the time you're switching to a cdn.

Just to confirm, you had ads -> lander -> offer. You then modified the lander(s) to have their images loading from a CDN host. Correct?

Yup, all i did was had the images and css load from the CDN... I added new ads, the first 100usd spent were the same old ads that were performin well... The second 100usd was 2 new ads with 2 old ads that were performing best... after about 1200 visits ive gotten 2 conversions....

Did u check to make sure images/css are loading fine? Did you setup the zone correctly? I've not had issues with this service since 2011 other than a couple times when some servers had problems in some countries.

Also, are you running a secure page, i.e. lander URL is https?

just split test and you'll have your answer

Sounds like it could be a tech error.

What is CDN and why would someone neet it?

@rafael3000 - I wrote a brief explanation of what CDNs are and why you might want one over in this article.

@karim0028 - have you speed-tested the lander yourself from the mainland USA? It may actually be that the CDN's slowing the lander down - the test I did in that above post showed that with a server and campaign both targeted at the USA, even a very well-optimised CDN has difficulty beating the server by much, and a less affiliate-optimised CDN than Beyond Hosting's system may perform even worse.

I'd run a bunch of Pingdom tests and see what comes out of that.
