Hey all, my dad will be turning 60 this year and wants to make some extra money. I told him I'm making around 100 a day average for the past few weeks and he wants some help.
My dad's an old fashioned guy so I don't expect him to run adult offers even though I FREAKING LOVE EM.
Anyways, I told him he should go for something simple like mature dating, start a blog and share some success stories then drive traffic through POF, Facebook, ETC and promote 40+ dating or christian dating sites, ETC. just as a regular guy.
Or do SnoreRX. He snores a decent amount.
Anyways, that is what is on the table right now. Anybody got any other ideas?
is he involved politically? could write a blog about various political topics while collecting emails and recommending info products. There's a lot of stuff like that on clickbank. if he's more left there's the eco/green type things, right could do more survival, taxes, avoiding obamacare type products. is that the type of thing you mean?
Very much depends on what his interests / areas of knowledge are, and if any of them overlap with areas where there's affiliate money to be made. Hobbies, medical history, work history, fitness, and as you say dating are all good areas to explore.
Hi cataclysm1987,
I'm 56 and I started on July 1st last year. I have a full time job and I don't speak (very well) English. With 2 sons at the University, I need extra cash and I was very determined!
On October 13, 2012 I had my first (and only) $1,000 profit day. In March this year, I was among the top MaxBounty affiliates who won an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas.
I'm not saying this to brag but to let your father know that it is possible to be successful at any age. There is no secret: learn, try, fail then rinse & repeat until it works.
I started advertising on Facebook and I focused only on this traffic source. Unfortunately, like for many other affiliates, FB banned my account after 7 months. Since that time, I'm looking for another great traffic source and guess what? I'm learning mobile and adult advertising. I have no problem to promote adult offers, it's a business and I don't care about what other people could think about me. I'm pretty sure that those who disagree are the first to watch porn video online!
Today I don't earn a penny a day but I know I will be back in the profitable zone soon, failure is not an option for me. I hope that other "big guys" on this forum will help me! (Hey! There is a message here!..
).
Your father has a great advantage, you can help him. If I learned everything by myself and I had some success, your father can succeed too.
I wish the best to you and, obviously to your father.
It takes a certain type of personality to excel in affiliate marketing, and while I don't think age has anything to do with it, anybody wanting to be successful has to be willing to immerse themselves in the industry.
I've been through phases with family where they've asked me to show them the ropes, and invariably it has led to me showing them my campaigns instead. Nothing wrong with that, as long as they use it as inspiration and guidance rather than trying to 'shadow' your moves.
I think the best way forward with your dad would be to get him to draw up two lists - one with the things he's passionate about, and another with his best skills. You might find that he sucks at blogging but can bust out incredibly authentic viral YouTube hits. Merging the method of communication that he's most comfortable with, to an industry that he's passionate about - one that has monetary potential - is probably the best starting point.
Yep!
My motto is "Promote what makes you happy, as long as what makes you happy involves sex."
Ben, I was gonna say pof but it seems like more of an intermediate or expert level base he would be competing with.
There's intermediate and experts on all traffic sources my friend. Your dad needs support as he's getting started and no one beats POF on providing support!
Ben...why don't you see if facebook will hire you? Those a holes need some support for sure...
