What should your ad creatives typically say? (9)

What should your ad creatives typically say?

I created a few ad creatives on facebook.
Right now I've been slowly increasing my bid to increase the reach because it wasn't showing before. Today the ads been shown to ~90 people. No clicks.

I'm testing the Dating Niche right now.
I've only been changing the picture of the girl between a blonde and a brunette. My text/caption is: Fill your calendar with first dates.
Another one I have: Would you rather date a blonde or brunette?
I couldn't come up with anything better.

Now I am thinking of promoting a free gift card offer, but their landing page is has NBA tickets. I was thinking, "Who do you want to win the playoffs? Complete offer for NBA tickets."

Is there something I can read about what to put in ad?

this post on angles might be a good place to start

I'd also recommend having a read of Ca$hvertising (great copywriting book) and looking over the headline posts on Copyhackers and Copyblogger.

Also, have a read over the case studies right here on STM - there are some great tips on headlines. Try Maynzie's posts on POF (much of what works on POF works on Facebook) here and here and Mr Green's post on Angles here (whoops, tmcalvin had already linked that one!).

If you can afford it, a Facebook spy tool is a good investment to get an idea of what works.

In general, keep it VERY simple. I mostly run dating - and I've actually had some solid success from headlines that read "Do You Want A Girlfriend? Click Here.". You're almost certainly overthinking your headlines.

The adcopy is seriously not that important, 90% of your CTR will be due to the images you use.

I'll go ahead and give you some basic headlines:

Want a Girlfriend?
Feeling Lonely Tonight?
Find a Date ASAP!

I have a post you might find useful on how I write headlines

If you struggle with ad copy or coming up with ideas, outsource it to Fiverr, Elance, Craigslist etc. Figure out what you are good at and do that, leave the other stuff to someone else. It's worth paying for.

I second this.. One time on Facebook I put up some ads in Germany but accidentally wrote my ad copy in French. CTR's and CVR's didn't change at all. I've basically been using the same ad copies for the past 5 months, they literally don't make any sense, yet they're still converting pretty well. Image is everthing on Facebook.

More:

Boyfriend WANTED!
WANTED: Boyfriend!
Shy Girls Want Boyfriends..
etc...

Use lingo that is a bit different then "Are you looking for a girlfriend".. it's too boring and doesn't translate well to the user

Any progress on this?

If you're targeting a male audience - my tip would be to use a woman in a car. The CTRs shoot up!

I tested an Xbox One add with a middle aged woman in a pink prom dress falling out of a car - it was so amateur I can't believe people clicked on it! I achieved a 3% CTR.
