i have some ideas for mobile game apps in different categories. i've been lucky to save up a nice amount of cash from AM earnings and wanted to know if i am ready to take steps forward for moving to the advertiser side.
- get an office
- hire a team of 2-3 developers and media buyers
- fund it myself (no outside funding)
on the side, i will have my affiliate campaigns running on autopilot making 40k-50k a month.
i am comfortable with putting about 200k in the business to start, plus about 10-20k out of what i make from affiliate earnings per month. i could possibly commit more than that but not really interested in living poor off ramen noodles month to month.
maybe this is an egg-headed question but do i have "enough". to move to the advertiser side.
I don't know the offer-owner side of things, but on the development side of things, you're in the right ballpark for mobile game development provided you keep a very close eye on mission creep. You may need slightly more staff than that - you'll need a coder and an artist for sure, and probably a testing guy too.
You probably know this already, but do be aware: games development is VERY high-variance, winner-takes-all stuff.
Are you doing this for the love of games and game development or purely as a business development? If the latter, there are definitely easier paths to take.
