I subscribed to STM yesterday afternoon. I haven't finished reading everything yet, but it's time to get my feet wet. I'll have my first campaign running or at least my landing page created so I can get started as soon as possible.
Background:
I've watched so many WSOs and programs, but I never had a clear plan of action. I always half assed everything and was too scared to do CPC/PPV.
Now that I read the 40 Day Newbie guide and seeing a few others' progress on the Follow Alongs, I cannot wait to get started.
Good luck! Looking forward to seeing your progress. PM me or mention it here if you have any tech problems and I'll do my best to help.
Yesterday it took me an hour to install Prosper202 after watching a few videos and reading a few forums. I'm still reading and watching videos on youtube on how to set up the tracking. I think I'll be able to run my first campaign tonight. I decided on using Plenty of Fish because some of the CPA offers require certain age limits. Facebook seemed like it was going to cost a lot of money to get good at it.
I wasn't sure on which offer to promote at first, but decided to do dating on POF. I feel like all the other offers for gaming, downloads , bizzop, etc. would be harder to convert even if they had EPC. And the dating offers that I saw on MaxBounty were 1 page converts. So I am excited to run the first campaign.
What should my daily budget be and how many landing pages should I try first?
Ok. I finally set everything up. I made a landing page the way that it was shown in the tutorial. I pretty much ripped the offer's landing page and put directions on it. I finally set up the tracking which took me a while. I found some girls photos to use as the creative. And after thinking long about how I'd make the advertisement enticing for males, I decided to keep it simple. I didn't care too much about the specifics. The important thing was just to get the campaign running. The tracking took the longest time. I researched Adobe Muse and downloaded it to make that webpage, but that required just as much time figuring out.
So, I set up my campaign, started my demographic. Set my budget at $5. Got the pixel created, etc. etc. And then Facebook puts my campaign on hold because I'm currently living in Thailand and I am from the states. hahaha. :-P Gonna try to start one on POF since I have to wait for them to get back to me.
Damn I have been slacking. I just had my first Muay Thai fight in Thailand. I had a few rest days, but really I just spent last week sleeping a lot. I feel like I got to step up my game and dedicate time to this. Maybe spend a bit less time training in the morning and just work until the afternoon.
Just started running my first dating campaign on Facebook.
Congrats on the first fight, man! How did it go?
Balancing another passion and affiliate marketing is always tricky - there's a surprising number of us walking that line in various ways. Sounds like an interesting topic for discussion, actually - I may start a thread on it!
Personally I find that "chunking" my time works most efficiently: allocating, say, 4 hr in the morning for AM and then the rest of the working day for filmmaking. Generally minimising task-switching is the way to go.
I won by 5 round decision. Damn it was a tough fight. I outweighed my opponent, but my trainer told me that I should be proud because he beat so many farangs before me. I don't have any serious injuries, but I reinjured the minor ones I had before. I jammed my toes before the fight and now it's worse. Then on Monday I rehurt my left foot. And I've had diarrhea the past few days. I was already taking antibiotics, but I went to the hospital to get more drugs. Hopefully I won't be curled up into a ball anymore.
I got my first two ads approved on facebook, but even though it's been a whole day it reached 0 people. I am guessing nobody logged on in Sweden lol. Facebook said I was targeting ~55,000 males. Hopefully some people will see it since I bid $0.20 and the minimum they recommended was $0.30. I was reading the newbie tips for Facebook and the post was showing that it didn't matter a lot what I bid. Right now it's about 11AM in Sweden, so hopefully they start logging on or something.
In the mean time, I'll try some other ads and in other countries.
Edit: I also saw this email submit offer for free NBA tickets. Will I need a new domain to promote those types of offers? Or should I just get a generic name and just place miscellaneous offers through them? Like I'd name it Rockstarproductions.com or ExcaliburNetwork.com or something.
So the Ad has been running for a few days now. Approximately ~400 people have seen the ads, but 0 clicks. I've been slowly increasing the bid because in the beginning it wasn't showing to anyone. Now I'm at ~300 people per day. I also changed the headline a little bit based on the POF guide here. I may have to increase bid a lot more because 300 people is too few and that is zero clicks. So I haven't even gotten to my landing page yet. I'm at 10 cents above their minimum. So.. right now $0.40 per click and their minimum is $0.30.
Created another campaign for a free NBA giftcard. Ads haven't been approved.
Created another campaign for German dating offer. Created 4 landing pages for this campaign. Gotta read up on how to do rotating landing pages before I officially put the ad on facebook for review. But since I am on Thailand time, it'll be done before they wake up.
Congrats on winning the fight, man! And much sympathy on the injuries - sounds extremely sore.
You may want to consider picking up Finch's guide to Facebook - I don't run much affiliate stuff on Facebook, but when I was testing I found it very useful. It has some advice on bidding, ad selection, and other useful stuff. Just remember that FB is even more hostile to affiliates these days!
In general, when you're starting a campaign my understanding is that you're better to bid close to the higher bid limit Facebook recommends. That'll get you testing volume and your CPCs will then go down without murdering your volume.
Yay! I finally got a ton of reach.
So now I got 7 clicks, which cost me some money! I am actually happy to that they clicked it.
However, 6/7 of them clicked the link of my landing page. But none of them made an account. and 0 conversions. SO LAME.
7 clicks on the 31-40 age category.

Right now it is Thailand time. Almost the end of the day.
