Hi Guys,
Im about to go live with an adult dating campaign... I am curious, how to i confirm that my tracking is setup correctly before i start spending money?
In CPVLab there are URL Append Token and Keyword Token that i dont know how to make use of....
All i did thus far for a landing page campaign is add the pixel tracking to the affiliate network and added the code to the landing page...
Is that all that needs to be done? Are there any other variables that i should record or get?
What traffic source are you using? You in general want to pass virtually every piece of information the traffic source will give you to your tracking system so that you have data that allows you to optimise your campaign on the traffic source end. E.g. the traffic source might let you pass target/domain with {target}. You also want to generally pass a unique advert identifier for each ad that you use. So, if say you're using Exoclick, you're advert URL may be something like
http://trackingdomain.com/something.php?campaignid=123&ad=custom_300x250_1&target={target}
Clicking through your setup and making sure clicks are tracking on the network side and on your tracking side. Some networks allow you to test fire the offer conversion pixel as well.
-- not to hijack the thread but question for Zeno or anyone else using cpvlab -- is there a cpvlab walkthrough on how to pass additional variables to the network? I've gone back and forth with cpvlab help and read their support document several times, and what I'm trying to do seems to be extremely simple but for some reason they're not following what I'm trying to do. As of right now, I just use the link domain.com/base.php?c=###&key=####&keyword=EDIT - I replace "EDIT" with my subid, it gets passed back to cpvlab. How do I get "EDIT" passed to the network instead of it just sending the network some random unique click ID that means nothing to the advertiser trying to optimize the traffic on the back end? Much thanks if anyone can answer this, kind of embarrassing that I don't know how to do this lol
Im gonna start off with zeropark as a traffic source....
Its Keyword based...
So, i notice that they have these tokens available...
Tokens: {target} {keyword} {match}
What would i need to do to track them?
I believe you'd need
Keyword Token to be set as keyword
Append Token to be set as &keyword={keyword}
and two Extra Tokens (tick the "Capture Extra Tokens" box), with the first one set as Name: target, URL Append: &tgt={target}, Parameter: tgt and the second one set as Name: target, URL Append: &mtch={target}, Parameter: mtch .
I'm not an expert on CPVLab, but I believe that's correct. There's a guide to setting up PPC campaigns (which is essentially what ZeroPark is) over at http://cpvlab.com/forusers/PPC_with_CPV_Lab.pdf
Allright, but i dont get the syntax... Is it different for every traffic source?
Like for instance on Zeropark they have these for keyword bidding
Tokens: {target} {keyword} {match}
But in the example you pointed me to they use
Token Name: Ad Copy URL Append: &adc=%ADC% Parameter: adc
How would i add the zeropark to CPV? What would the syntax be?
Those syntax are dynamic tokens. For instance {keyword} would be dynamically replaced by the keyword your traffic's coming from. Tokens are different for almost all sources so you gotta make sure you use the correct tokens per source.
The thing you quoted for adc= is the setup in CPVLab to add extra tokens and not only use &keyword= so you can sort for more than one variable.
But, my tracking is till not working. I need to be able to see the targets (URL) where they are coming from...
All i see in CPVlab at this point is {Keyword}, {Target} and {match}, LITERALLY... What am i doing wrong here?
Take a look at this.

I am pretty sure thats not correct. AS it doesnt tell me anything about the traffic.....
Here is my campaign setup for the tokens.... Its my first time, so i have no idea what im doing with these tokens or the correct way to set them up...

Anyone who knows how to set this up properly on CPVLab, your help would be greatly appreciated...
CPVlab support said its correct... Anyone know if there is something different from ZP?
Have you actually inserted dynamic tokens into your Zeropark campaign URL? They need to be there in the first place so ZP actually fills in the gaps.
E.g. Campaign URL:
http://mydomain.com/something.php?campaign=myzpcamp&target={target}&keyword={keyword}
I think i forgot to do that... Thanks for pointing that out; i didnt realize that there was a new campaign URL... I'll test it again tommorow when my daily budget resets....
Yup, gotta get the info from somewhere, first place all the information comes from is your traffic source and the URL it sends people to.
I looked at my affilaite account and i got 2 conversions yesterday....
I checked my links in CPVLab, they look like what was explained in the video... yet, i am still not recording conversions...
Here again is the campaign setup

I sent a request to CPVLab, but if anyone see's something wrong please let me know, any help would be greatly appreciated..
I am at a loss as to why this is not working.... I know its gotta be something trivial but as its the first time doing it...
Have you entered your postback or pixel into Wolf Storm Media's system? If not, CPVLab won't track conversions.
Your AM at Wolf Storm should be able to help you sort this out - give them a shout!
yup, i had my postback url, so i sat with my AM and redid it, i will run some more traffic and see how it worksout!
Thanks!
