Split traffic sources to maximize on weekend conversions (3)

Split traffic sources to maximize on weekend conversions

Okay, so we all know one thing is pretty clear when it comes to adult traffic...

Tuesday-Wednesday=shit conversions.

Let's be honest, the middle of the week hump is no good. People are concerned with their jobs, their finances, their education, but not at all with getting laid or meeting someone new.

In fact, this is often true of the dating scene in general. Tuesday-Thursday...aint nobody got time for dat!

So here's my idea for a bidding strategy...

Take your top most consistent sites from Exoclick, TJ or whatever traffic you are using. Put the into your A list traffic sources.

A list sources are sources you know for a fact you can run 24 7 with decent conversions. Occasionally they slow down but you know you will not get burnt leaving them on all the time.

Next, take your B list traffic sources.

These are traffic sources you get an occasional conversion from but have never seen a smooth profit from, so you knocked them off your list. Through trial and error, you eliminated these motherfuckers from your list because, well, they just didn't churn out a profit over a long enough time.

Here is what you do:

Run A list traffic 24/7
Run A and B list traffic on the weekends.

What this does is creates additional volume on the weekends when traffic is buzzing so much...WHO CARES! It's the weekend! We all just want to get laid! Nobody gives a damn!

Even though the conversions from the B list sources are not as good...you compensate with volume! Sure, a B list traffic source might break even or create a loss during the week but on a Sunday afternoon, a 10% profit! Why not?

Then during the week...back to the smooth, solid stream of conversions from your top notch, proven sources.

Anyone else think this is a great idea? I am going to experiment with this in my follow along and see how it works.

Has anyone thought of this before? Has anyone experimented with it?

Let me know. I think it should prove pretty well in my experiments.

Ya it's called weekparting. You keep track of when a campaign is profitable, and you just turn it off on the days it's historically unprofitable. Not sure about other affiliates but I use it quite a bit.

Pro-tip: CPVlabs -> Trends -> View Type switch to "day of week" and it will automatically show you the best days.

I know a lot of affiliates do it, though I don't use it as much. I tend to play around with my bids on the lower performing days, or use a fresh set of creatives that are day-specific. If Sunday is converting like ass for my campaign (in fairness, probably the best day), then I'll come up with an angle that is relative to the day - or just hack X% off my bid.

If everybody stops running ads on Tuesdays and Wednesdays then the bid drops and you're back in the money. I think it's pretty rare that a trend completely derails you from advertising on a specific day. But it does mean you have to get creative and have a Plan B. No sense in burning out your best ads when they can saved for the best days for maximum ROI.
