hi,
i just recently got cpvlab installed on my domain.com with beyond hostings help.
i have all my landing pages on the same folder. (public html folder)
domain.com/landingpage.html.
does my site load faster if i install cpvlab on the domain.com or sub.domain.com?
my concern is when choosing which site to load it has to search thru a whole bunch of cpvlab stuff/files in order the find my landing page.
also,
i was thinking mayb i can add a new domain to my hosting account. that way when my site loads it won't hav to filter thru all the junk in my public html folder.
or should i just keep cpvlab in the main domain or switch it to a sub domain so i can have the fastest load time.
thx
Whether CPVlab is located in the directory for a domain, subdomain or addon domain makes no difference... When you load a link like http://trackingdomain.com/something.php?blah the browser doesn't filter through anything in any folders, I'm not sure where you got this idea - loading a URL in a browser is a direct, specific request - it is not at all similar to opening a folder in windows explorer where it has to display all the content of that folder.
Having CPVlab located at track.domain.com or domain.com is going to have negligible influence on load/request/tracking speed (afaik).
However, most would have a dedicated tracking domain and all landers/campaigns using seperate domains. Why? Most don't want to blatantly throw their tracking domain in peoples faces and it can cause issues with e.g. getting domains blacklisted, MyWoT scores, etc. Additionally you will want an SSL certificate for the tracking domain and that requires it to have it's own dedicated IP address.
Also, having your landers at trackingdomain.com/landingpage.html is a bad idea. 1) You are making ripping your shit easy 2) you are going to have a hell of a mess of files to deal with. Christ, at least sort things into folders like domain.com/campaign/FR/l1/index.html, obviously don't make the URL give away campaign details. Make your life easy and be neat.
