Mobile Games?

Does anyone here run big vol on mobile games?

I was wondering if you guys find it better to direct link to the itunes or google play page or if you use landing pages?

Also do you do it direct to an offer or do you collect email and send multiple offers?

It looks like a very interesting market and I am checking out a few offers, but it's not a market with much info out there about it.

Anyone with some experience want to trade ideas and discuss on skype let me know. I am a high vol media buyer and am looking to network with people who have good mobile experience.

Direct link all the way.

For games theres no reason to up sell you're banner already got the user interested.

Plus games are impulse downloads.

Can you build a list, or use a lander, yes, you can always split test once you get going to see what makes you more $$, but to start DL is fine

Note: Most (if not all) the games / app install campaigns work off install AND open. Which means, the tracking only works when the user opens the app. Try to pass a device ID (udid, mac address, IDFA, IMEI, Android ID) when ever possible even if the advertiser says its not necessary. A number of users dont open the app till later, which means, fingerprinting tracking (that is not based on device id), may be off due to a change it location for example, and may not track for you. Also, when promoting it, try to get the user (perhaps in the text , or LP if you end up making one) to open the app. Nick - didn't find your SKYPE address, but feel free to hit me up to discuss - SKYPE: adcommunal

We see a majority of the in app and web traffic being direct linked to the store page.

Direct linking for games a) plays into the impulse factor as stated by The Angry Russian but also b) seems to legitimize the offer, or at least more so than taking the user through several steps/locations.

You will most likely see higher conversions from direct linking because the user feels as if he/she is making a direct transaction on Google or Apple's interface (feels safer from a consumer standpoint), as opposed to being redirected to a third-party website, and then to the store.

But what about mobile games subscriptions (not app install), should we use lander or direct link good too?

There is no should or shouldn't and you have to test it. With high payout offers a lander will almost always work better. I've been able to beat conversion rates on $1.50 app installs with $10 subscription games by just using a simple lander.

Games on the App store with a 2% conversion rate is considered "good". You can easily get a 2% conversion rate with a PIN submit game - and get paid 10x what the install will pay you.

In my experience, the question here is: How good is the advertiser's landing page?

If the advertisers lander is solid, you should direct link. If you can do better with a pre-lander...go that route.
Ultimately though, the only way to figure this out is to split test between the two. I've got some offers where the advertiser's landing page is so good that you'd be crazy to use a pre-lander and others where it's almost a requirement for profitability.
