Robrave's Newbie 30 Day Challenge
Hi Hello Everyone!
At last this day has come! Hahaha.. I'd been meaning to get started with this since last Feb. 2012 but I kept pushing it months for months. But now, I'm serious with this because I believe this is the way to realize one of my dream. Hopefully, I will be able to quit my job and still be able to help my Mom before my birthday on October.
A boring and short introduction about me:
I'm Robin and I'm from Philippines. I'd quit my career job last January 2010 in order to focus more on making money online. I had read lots of making money online ebooks. Tried some but they all failed. By December 2010, I had found an online job thru oDesk. It is from an SEO company that is based on Australia. My main work is article writing. It is a boring job for me but I need the money so I last there until May 2012. My employer recommended me to his friend and so, I got another job. This next job is different and what I do is create Wordpress-based websites. I learned a lot with regards to PHP, CSS, Javascript and HTML. I like this job, actually. This is still my job today and this is where I got most of my funds.
Outside work, I had built my own sites and do SEO on them. I learned some money by Adsense but since Google changes everytime, I'd decided to stop pursuing it. I also have some success on Fiverr and it is still making money this day.
Anyway, last week, I bought CPVLab and got a server from BeyondHosting.
DAY 1
Will be using LeadImpact and Peerfly.
Setup 1 campaign about Babies.
I used the 30pd landing page by tijn as base template and edited it to suit my chosen offer.
Created 4 landing page with the only difference is the image of the baby.
I followed most of the instructions from the STM_40day_guide document and are now waiting for the approval from LeadImpact.
Hopefully, I can find some friends here and hope that I can get some advice and tips and hope that somebody bother to visit this thread.
Cheers

Created 2 landing pages for that offer.
Also, my first campaign about Babies are now activated in LeadImpact. Traffic are supposed to come now sooner or later. Can't wait!

Looks good, keep us posted on your progress.
Just keep going and you will get success. Be prepared for a few failures along the way, this stuff is not easy but well worth the struggle.

Thanks. My intention is to post here everyday and I will make sure that I will create at least 1 campaign daily. Yeah, I expect failures but I take it as some kind of investment by learning the skill slowly each time.

Thanks Mr Green! Yes, actually I have a list of offers that I got from my affiliate manager. Before I started everything, I emailed him for the hottest email/zip offer list and I told him that I'm going to advertise on LeadImpact.

Thanks a lot! I really did. LOL. Took me a whole year. And I hope for your success too!
DAY 3
Today is holiday in my country so I have no work. I promised myself that I will create more than 1 campaign today and I did it!
So, 3 campaigns today:
3. About Macbook offer
4. Energy drink offer
5. Dining Resto offer
My first two campaigns were approved and are now running though I still yet to see any traffic. Well there is 2 views for the first one and 3 views for the second one. LOL. Maybe if this continues tomorrow, I'll add more targets.
Cheers

And added 2 new campaigns today:
6. About coffee
7. About Redbox offer

DAY 5
Added 2 new campaigns today:
8. Nike shoes offer
9. eBay GC offer
Early morning, I'm so happy that I got 1 conversion from one of my campaign. Though, I have no idea what to do with it.

DAY 6
Added 1 campaign today:
10. Dunkin' Donuts offer
I got 2 conversions overall from no. 7 campaign which I had posted the image above when it is still just 1 conversion. Also, I'd created a different landing page for this one for testing tomorrow. I think what I need to do with this campaign is to increase my conversion rate and then everything will be great.
My 2nd campaign about iPhone surprisingly got 2 conversions as well. Though, the problem is that it didn't reflect on the CPVLab. I'd just noticed it when I saw it on my Peerfly dashboard. I don't know what happened. I checked my postback url and it is good. I set my global postback in case that will help next time.
Only managed to create one campaign today because I'm so busy fixing my landing pages starting from the 1st campaign. I'm so stupid not to check my landing pages on Firefox. It looked messed up because of the big font size.
Cheers

Don't worry about the occasional conversion that CPVLab doesn't track - nothing other than manually entering subids is 100% reliable. It'll only be a problem if you start seeing a lot of missing conversions - and even then, you can just get the list of converting subids from your affiliate network and update your CPVLab with it.

Thanks. I want to ask how to update CPVLab with that subids but I think it will be complicated so I won't bother you with it. I paused that campaign for now because it is eating my budget.
DAY 7
Added one new campaign today:
11. A Jersey offer. I used Kobe Bryant as "source of traffic". Got the idea from one of maynzie's thread. This campaign is different from my previous campaigns and I want to see how it goes.
Also, created another lander for no. 7 campaign. I'd modified the lander and add a facebook comments in it. Hardcoded comments. I want to see if adding it will affect the conversion rate. Another good news for this campaign is that my main lander got another 3-4 conversions, that's makes me think hard on how to make it become positive ROI because it is nearing break even.
Cheers

DAY 8
Added one new campaign:
12. iTunes offer. Created 2 different lp for this one each is a different angle.
Got the data from no. 7 campaign with the added facebook comments, the CTR is less than the main lander so I deactivate it. Also, since the main lander still has the highest CTR and CR, I'd decided to create 4 variations of it.
1. Change the main headline to call out they were a visitor of the site they're visiting.
2. Change the continue button to plain big blue hyperlink.
3. Change the continue button to plain big yellow hyperlink.
4. Change the continue button to plain big blue yellow blinking hyperlink.

You might know this already, but I figured I would mention it just in case:
With leadimpact, they determine your minimum bid price by the category you choose for the campaign. Pick an "other" category to get the lowest (0.015/view).

Thanks. I will that the next time.
DAY 9
So, new campaign for today:
13. Teeth whitening email submit
I had decided to pause no. 7 campaign. I don't know what else to do. All my effort to improve the CR failed. I'm just wasting money if I continue to run it. Though, I learned a ton and I think that is just okay. I will be lucky someday. LOL.
Here's the landing page performance for no. 7:

DAY 11
Added 1 new campaign:
15. ToysRUs GC
So far, only 2 or 3 are active. The rest of my campaigns on LI are not active because they reached a certain number of views without any conversion.
I will not give up! LOL. It is just day 11. Even doing body workouts will usually take at least 3 months to see any noticeable improvement. I will be lucky someday

Good attitude!
Keep at it. It usually takes a while to learn the ropes the first time round - but if you keep patiently plugging away and launching new campaigns, you'll suddenly find you've got one that works. And then two that work. And then...

Thank you! I think that is really the process and there are no shortcuts. Actually, I keep telling myself the most overused line in raffles, "The more entries you send, the more chances of winning"

Thanks! I really appreciate it!
DAY 13
Forced myself to create at least 3 campaigns. LOL. Then I just realized it is not really that hard. Tomorrow will be Saturday and it will take a while again for LI to approve my campaigns so I will really have to submit new campaigns as much as possible.
3 new campaigns today:
17. kohl's gc
18. red lobster gc
19. huggies coupons
God speed for me!

DAY 14
Almost half of the way, LOL
Created 5 new campaigns today:
20. Subway offer
21. jetblue offer
22. nba ticket offer
23. cold stone offer
24. PS4 offer
2 of my campaigns that I'd created yesterday got 1 conversion each. I'm gonna watch how it will unfold.
Also, I really got a higher CTR with the very simple landing page. The one with no image whatsoever except for the button. But just a simple big blue headline and a black sub-headline. Weird.
Another thing, I solved the mystery missing conversion on CPVLab after reading its user guide. It seems that I have to add a subid at the end of the offer url with the equal sign as the last character.
Code:
Like this, http://trkur.com/trk?o=9999&p=7777&s1=

DAY 15
Created 6 new campaigns today:
25. Samsung S4 offer
26. Chili's offer
27. Beats offer
28. Home depot offer
29. Droid DNA offer
30. Tom's shoes offer
One of the campaigns from Day 13 got 3 conversions in 186 views. I paused it for the meantime because I'm still waiting for my additional keywords to be approve by LI.

Hey mate have you thought of just running coreg instead of using these email submit offers? I think you will find half of them will be duds and half will tank hard after a few days. At least with coreg you have consistency through out all your campaigns. Also it will allow your flow to be a lot smoother.

Hmm.. you've got a point. I got 36 campaigns and only 3-5 got some conversions, all others are just..... But I don't know what is coreg (need to look it up). I will definitely try it before this challenge ends.

I woke up earlier and found out that I got $5.80 earnings. Around 3 campaigns got some conversions on those 10+ campaigns.
DAY 17
Created another 6 new campaigns today. Campaign 37 to 42.
LI has the habit of changing my categories in order to up my bid to 0.02. I just found out that when I had submitted those 10+ campaigns, they didn't even bother to change the categories. So, I'm enjoying 0.015 bids on most of them. Hahah.
My target before this challenge ends is to create a total of 90 campaigns. That will be 3 campaigns per day. That's why I'm pumping it to 6 new campaigns a day. This doesn't include all the time I'm playing around with existing campaigns.
I ordered a Fiverr gig to create some voice over. I will use this for my landing pages. Right now, I'm still using the mp3 from tjin's 30pd thread. I think people will like something new to the ears. Haha.
Also, just deposited $100 to LI. Because the budget is running out.
Thanks everyone! My only wish for now is to get back what I'd spend on LI so that I can play with another 'round and probably try something else.

Thus far Robrave, how are you finding your experience? Do think PPV + email/zip submit was the right path to take? Still early days yet, I know, but I am leaning toward taking the same route. I know you are following the 40 day guide and kudos on your ability to take action.
I will be watching your progress and wishing you all the best on your journey. I will be getting started very soon, maybe we can network further down the line...

To be honest, I really can't answer that one because I haven't tried payday, gaming and some other kind of offers, but I will because I'm curious how it will be different with email submits.
Thank you! At least I know somebody bothers to read my thread, LOL. I don't mind if we share some ideas later on once you decide to test the water as well.
DAY 18
Created 6 new campaigns today. Campaign 43 to 48.
Out of 42 campaigns that are active, there are 10 that has some conversions. It's funny how some things turns out. Those offers that you think will convert is not converting and vise versa.
I think I will not be able to try out Coreg for this challenge. First, it seems complicated after reading some post under Coreg subforum. Second, Peerfly doesn't allow Coreg for their offers.
I'm running out of email/zip offers from Peerfly, LOL. They might have 200+ offers but there are lots that are duplicate like LP for Social and Display.
Anybody knows another good CPA network that have lots and lots of email/zip submits? I had tried Neverblue before but I was rejected, haha.

Have you been cutting the losers and fine tuning the winners? You have 10 camps that are getting some conversions, have you tried to see why these camps are converting and tried to scale them?
What is the avg conversion rate of the email/submits? Any scrubbing? What is your CTR?

For each campaign, I usually allow it to be active until each of its landing pages got at least 100 views. If there's no conversion, I deactivate it at LI to stop the traffic.
For those with conversions, I decided to wait until the total views for each landing pages reach at least 100 views. Yeah, most of those with conversions are slow in traffic.
Once those with conversions reached 100 views on each of its landing pages, I'll chose the best LP based on the CR and CTR. And then my plan is to use that LP as a template for new angles.
The data are too low to make a judgment. Here's a screenshot of a campaign with positive ROI.
DAY 20
Created 6 new angle campaigns. Designed new lander for it. Campaign 55 to 60.

Your CTR's and EPV are looking great! Need to bump those CR then you will be on fire! At least you have a +ve ROI. I was thinking of doing something similar when it comes to cutting the losers, 2x payout with no conversions I will stop it, 1x payout with no clicks stop it.
So according to your eCPM you can expect to make $15.94 on LP2 per 1k clicks, how can you improve these numbers?
Keep on posting mate, I am really enjoying your thread and it is REALLY great to see you in +ve ROI.

Actually, I'm not really sure how to up its numbers.
At this point, I need to come up with a different and unique angle in order to make this profitable. Just changing minor things like font, texts doesn't give me big boost in difference.
I'm at lost, LOL.
DAY 21
Created 6 new angle campaigns. One for each 6 different existing campaigns. Campaign 61 to 66. It's a coupon angle for email submits. Got the idea from one of maynzie's case study. Got several conversions just now.
I need to read and research more and more and more. Need new angles. I need something unique.
Cheers

Great follow-along so far!
One quick tip - give your landers enough time to gather data before cutting them. It's definitely good that you have a cut-off point - however, I'd recommend a bit higher than 100 views.
Statistically, a lander that's had 20 clicks out of 100 views could have an eventual CTR anywhere between 13% and 27% if you keep running it (at 90% confidence). You need a bit more data to be sure.
When I'm split-testing, I tend to use this website to get data on when my split-test is OK to complete. I know the idea of waiting until you have that much data is pretty scary - I remember it was for me! - but it'll stop you from killing landers that could have been winners.

Thanks caurmen! I'll keep that in mind.
DAY 22
Added additional landers for each of 9 existing campaigns. Same coupon angle. Campaign 67 to 75.
Funded LI with another $100 today. So, the total would be $400.
Based on my data, I have 2 possibly-profitable campaigns. But the traffic is so low so I may have to wait for many more days in order to judge whether it is really a winner.
Tomorrow, I will create campaigns based on celebs. Justin Bieber might be super saturated but I will still give it a try and then some other trending stuffs.
Cheers

Are you just pre-selling on the landers or do you have an opt-in in place and follow up with offer(s)?

DAY 24
Created 2 new campaigns. Campaign 78 to 79.
It's time to apply what I'd learned from reading books. Just added a brand new lander for Campaign 17 and 18. The lander got 8 rotating headlines. I'm hoping at least one will be better than its previous landing pages.
So far, I got 1 campaign that is in positive ROI and that one works without using landing page. Meaning it is direct linked. That's why I really can't do anything to improve its earnings but I let it run anyway. It earns around $3 since I'd started it, LOL.
Cheers
