Question Is site still penalized? Completley different results different data center

I'm looking if anyone can offer me any insights into this.

I have a site which I thought was ranking well, however that doesn't seem to be the case.

When I check the site from different IPs within the US it shows that the site is on page 1 and on other IPs it shows that it's on page 5 and for some keywords it shows it's not listed.

This site was ranking well, before but I think google dropped it when I was giving too many links to it, but now it seems to have recovered when I check, but on some data centers it still shows it prior to recovering.

So the question is why does it show it recovered in some data centers and not others?

Is my site still penalized?

How do I fix this?

It's been about 2 months since it's recovered from some data centers. Is this site still penalized or what's going on?

There are no warnings in web master tools.

Any insights would be appreciated!

Are you logged into your Google Account? It may be a saved preference. Also, clear your cache...

You might also want to check your website stats, are you getting traffic?

Hi Panthary,

This isn't an issue with the rank checker, I'm definitely seeing significantly different results from different data centers.

I've tried on completely different IPs on different computers. For example IPs in Virginia I see first page, IPs in Washington I'm on page 5.

Are your pages / services regional in any way?

Hi Sandyone,

Yes, they are regional. However there's been no Google Places work done with it, strictly link building.

I believe I got hit with the Google update on January 16. ANd for some reason it shows it recovered on it's own in some data centers about a month later after leaving the site alone, but not in other data centers.

very frustrating

I'd look within Google Analytics at which keywords and landing pages lost traffic. That will shed some light on whether it's an on-page quality issue or a keyword penalty. Are your anchors healthy?
