Hi guys!
So after testing some banners, I have found a specific layout and angle that works well.
Which of the following elements should I test afterwards?
In other words, which elements are more influential to the CTR/CR of a banner based on your experiences?
1. CTA color
2. CTA text
3. Border
4. Image
5. Other (please specify)
Any input will be much appreciated!
Personally, I'd say image above all else, then text (not just CTA text, headline text too), then border and general effects. Don't forget to try playing around with post-processing on your high-CTR images - push saturation, experiment with shadow/midtone/highlight levels, try effects like vignette or glow.
image / headline, - image to grab them, headline to offer them what they want. Body text / cta need to be relevant and flow, but if your image / headline don't grab them, then you've already lost them
Image > Headline > Color / style of background > Image text > CTA Button
But Image is probably 75% of what makes someone click the ad
Thanks for all your contribution!
Image(image content + eye catching colors and effects), the headline(about 25%)
Definitely image first, especially with adult traffic. Then the headline.
Everything else is pretty much an afterthought until you find the best versions of the above (so as long as you're not doing something stupid like littering 'free' over your CTAs)
Depending on what source you are running on, I would say that overall look is the most important. For example, does your banner stand out from the site or does it blend in.
Now you found a winner angle, don't forget to test the tone and the wording of your message as well.
Also, use this to find a lot of sub-angles inside your main angle:
