I haven't seen any thread here about Google's Enhanced Campaigns.
Now, we can't target OS, devices, carriers etc any longer.
We can't separate laptop traffic from mobile traffic or tablet traffic.
Basically, it means one campaign for all the devices.
We can't optimize anything, we're screwed as advertisers.
A lot of web campaigns will suffer a lot, since all the mobile and tablet traffic will be add up to the mix.
I can't wait to see how the industry will react.

they want more money from big brands that do not care and indirectly pushing out "performance" marketers
Yep joejoechen, I totally understand their move, but as a PPC consultant in my day job, this new feature is a total disaster for my customers
No need to mention how bad this news is for affiliates... You already got the idea :S
lol for Adwords.
Google's been ripping people off for years. This does not really surprise me. Why would they sell mobile traffic for 5c per click if they can sell it for 50c per click.
I find the whole thing very baffling. Maybe there's more to it that I'm not seeing????
In fact, I hope so. The FTC just got done reviewing them and found "nothing wrong with their business practices" so they are in the clear now to push on with whatever.
they have tried stuff like this before....and backed off due to adverts bitching.....my personal opinion is this is a half baked experiment to see if they can pull off a higher cpc on mobile without people screaming to much....but what i have read from both sides dr/brands aren't too keen on it....
the "more to it" is this is coming from the shareholders concerns about google moving forward because they have yet to date, drive the same rev on mobile they do on web, and with mobile searches set to eclipse web very soon.....its a big concern for them. This will for sure apease the shareholders.....but its very likely with adverts this will blow up in their face....
That is pretty shit thing. I believe they will give up this so call "enhanced campaign" within few months.
I'm not so sure they will. Usually when they want to test something they are pretty hush-hush about it. When they come out with big announcements then it means they've already committed resources to it and will probably run with it for some time.
If their track record is anything to go by then its not looking good. They totally destroyed Admob and what was once the #1 go-to traffic source for mobile is now just plain shit with 90% of their advertisers running for the exit sign.
Yeah the change will def happen, there is no way around it. They set it up already, and in a few months latest all campaigns will be enhanced only. they MIGHT give us back legacy campaigns later, after enough people complain. But for now I'm pretty sure they will stick to their plan (even tho it's a bold move, even for google, to try to sell us enhanced campaigns as something great even tho it's obvious it's only great for Googles bottomline)
The complaints here are not 100% warranted.
Admob has recently drastically improved their traffic quality through click-fraud algorithms, AND a new double-tap verification for all ads.
But yea, not being able to target in adwords by carrier and all that other fun stuff is limiting and campaign breaking.
Hey OP, you can at least separate Mobile traffic from PC/Laptop traffic.
What I did was... go to Set bid for Devices, then in the Mobile row, enter a -100% (decreased bid on 100% for mobiles).
That will assure you only get traffic from Desktop/Laptops.
If you want traffic from mobile devices only, do the opposite. Decrease the bid on Desktop/Laptop devices by 100%.
That was one quick solution I found searching for advice, after receiving a bunch of expensive mobile traffic for an offer no optimized for mobiles, I lost $200 like in ten minutes (Thanks Google).
Hope that helps!.
Avalanche, that was 3 months ago before they banned me for no reason.
I don't now what changes they have made by now. But yes, it was right there where you are pointing with arrows.
Sorry mate, shame on Google.
Aha - found the answer. When I'm logged into the google web interface and select "advanced mobile and targeting options", there is now a little yellow alert box at the bottom of the settings that says if we select any of these options, we're automatically opted out of destop/laptop. I don't know if that is something they added in the last few months after all the uproar because I had been avoiding enhanced campaigns, but it looks like problem solved. I'll be checking my stats to make sure.
