WAP Mainstream Dating Advice :)

Hi Guys!

So I have scoured the forum the last couple of days trying to soak up all the information regarding WAP Mainstream Dating. And here is the targeting I have come up with to start:

OS: Android (10% more males)
Traffic: Web Only (NO APP)
Services: WAP (NO WIFI)
Media: Banners + Text
Adult Traffic: No

Most of this targeting is because I want a small test to kick off my mobile journey!

Traffic Source: This is were I was stumped, I don't know where to begin. I was going to start with jumptap but I read that 70% of their sites don't accept dating banners. Any Advice on where/what site I should start with?

Cheers guys and any other tips would be much appreciated!

Not to bad start bro, take a look at Stackmans newest post about his WAP campaigns as it will give you AWESOME guidelines about how to get it profitable.

MY favourite go to sources for starting out are leadbolt.com and inmobi.com

^^ ALMOST DONE THAT POST, promise

There's a BUNCH of places to start off with:
Inmobi, Airpish, Mocean, Adquinty (any of these would be a good start)

Some random notes about what you said/what i know about mainstream wap dating
- Target all phones, not just Android
- The offer will be the hardest part. Zoosk had great WAP apps that only accepted mainstream traffic but theyre currently down on all network
- Adult traffic will = horrible quality
- GIF banners do well
- I havn't split tested but banners with no girl images are much more common (may bring in higher quality users which will save you $ on wasted clicks)

and keep in mind you want to go BROAD. There's a lot of traffic that can be funneled into mainstream dating and you have access to it all, so the goal isn't to narrow down with targeting (except for handsets and carriers) because this is a niche that applies to everyone, find your angle, find your targeting and go big!

Cheers guys, the advice is much appreciated.

I've set up a small test on inmobi, I'll let you guys know how it goes

This would be amazing if you could document it with a follow-along in the mobile section! Would love to see this and will be glad to help ya

Also you have the sweetest location combo i've ever seen. Byron Bay & Whistler! .. doesn't really get better than that

Can't wait for that! For the past 4 months I have been doing dating with Fb, and made some profit. However with the bans its just a frustrating traffic source so I want to focus on others too, prior to Fb I did SEO but i'm done with that. So been doubting on what to aim for PPV, adult media buys or mobile. Mobile does sound tempting since its growing.

In your new post are you going to include whats needed to get started or more how to get profitable? Theres so much info on the forum I dunno where to start with mobile xD I want to give myself some homework with a check list Found few good threads to start with, wondering if you guys can recommend any more good ones? I want to study it before I dive into it too quickly, got to catch up with all the technical stuff

Alex from Mobaff (AngryRussian) did quite the extensive series of threads on how to get started with Mobile! Search for them, theyre really good!

My thread will be more about the current offers, and how to get started that day running like a rhino

Cheers bud! Il check those while waiting for my new CC so can start facebooking again.
I think I will focus on mobile out of the other two, maybe it has even bigger potential to make $$ than media buys or ppv? Probably no yes or no answer for that xD
Learning curve probably longer though? But worth it.

Yeah will do Stackman, but atm the campaign is pending me getting a reliable mobile tracker.

Sneak Peak Update:
Day1: Launched campaign(mainly due to I wanted to see what would happen, didn't care about losing money)
Launched on inMobi,
Spend: 46.25
Revenue: 12.50
Net Profit: - 33.75

Notes:
- I need a proper mobile tracker if I'm going to running on inMobi/ all mobile sources for that matter
- Shitloads of traffic that was within 2 hours on near minimum bid, mid day on a weekday!
- Good results I think, considering I was bored so I launched a few banners and text ads for funsies (note on a notes: I realize this small test really means nothing)

Status: Paused pending a mobile tracking solution.

Questions: Is it possible to block out all prepaid traffic? As requested by network.

Think usually the only way to block prepaid traffic is to block the carriers that are mainly with prepay phones. Takes some local knowledge though.

Correct me if I'm wrong however..

Depending upon what ad network you use...you can theoretically track handsets, carriers, and more inside of HasOffers. Shoot me a PM or add me on Skype if you need more help.
Additionally...why not use the STM mobile tracker? I've never used it personally...but it's better than nothing.

03-16-2013 05:48 PM #12 stackman (Administrator)

You absolutely need to track properly! Unlike most mobile offers WAP dating accepts all carriers/handsets and you need to know exactly which profit.

Use any tracker, but track! STM is free, and runs on 202 so its a whip to get running

There's now some Mate1 offers which are looking pretty nice, i would give those a test

when you did your initial test on inmobi, did you request mobile web-only from your rep? (if not, try it)

03-30-2013 12:16 AM #14 sciaq (Member)

Hi Guys,

I was waiting on V3 of STM Tracker, but decided to bite the bullet and get inmobitrax with there current 50% first month promotion.

Launched again today, and the tracking is amazing...so easy to use, glad I have it.

Avalanche: I did not, but I'm on to my rep now because I mainly got junk traffic(see bellow) and adult in my initial test.

Spent $35 (Didn't get charged for all the traffic), Conv: Big fat zero, why? Adult traffic and:

Needless to say, RIM has been blocked and I'm chasing down my Account Manager to block out Adult traffic.

Will keep posted

Check the lp you are using also and try to optimize it so it loads faster.

Cheers, its a lp from my Adult Mob Dating which is pretty optimized and does well on Adult mob. I forgot to mention I was 50% Direct link split as well.

RIM can be pretty lame. For example, you target UK geo but you get lots of clicks from RIM devices bought in the UK and resold in Africa.

03-31-2013 03:15 PM #18 miket (Member)

Dating is really hard to convert with Direct Linking, in my personal experience. Adult traffic is also very hit or miss. Even if it converts on a per lead basis, it often times produces poor quality for the advertiser.

As stackman said...the Mate1 Mobile offers are converting really well. We are exclusive on Mate1 Mobile, so if you'd like to reach me to me on Skype/Email/PM...I can definitely give you some insight on how to make it work.

04-20-2013 11:50 AM #19 stackman (Administrator)

You NEED a lander.

Same rules as web, just format it for mobile and track well.

07-31-2013 07:37 PM #20 dingdong (Member)

When you say we need a lander, does this include in the initial testing phase or is it ok to direct link to test out the offer?

07-31-2013 09:34 PM #21 stackman (Administrator)

I'd recommend a landing page for both, there's no set rules. I bet there's people making good $ without a landing page at all right now.

BUT if your newer to the scene i'd recommend landing page for initial testing!
