Hi guys
my prosper 202 is taking way to long to redirect 5 to 7 seconds this is going to make be lose out on some major money its on a new server so the db is very small i currentely have it setup on a vps under a trackng domain
heres the deal a vistor comes to my LP the vistor clicks the offer link the offer link goes to my tracking domain the tracking domain redirects the user to the offer why is my redirect taking over 5 seconds what can i do to improve the redirect speed ?
P.S i have memchache and nginx installed
Is prosper on the same server as the LP's?
Litespeed or Apache
Hosting.
Could be the offer too... Have you tried other offers and if it's the same problem there? (Could be even your affiliate network brokering the offer over 4 other affiliate networks and the redirect goes over all their tracking links)
Also, if you have it set to blank the referer it adds to redirect time, other possible reasons could be your server (for starting out a VPS should be good enough, but when you say you lose major money to me it sounds as if you could think about moving to a dedicated server), it could be your hosting company selling you cheap bandwidth, Beyond Hosting is good, if you're not already there.
PS: It could even be your local internet, I'm sitting in Vietnam atm for example and some sites take 30 seconds to load while friends from the US or europe or even AU load the same site in 2 seconds.
Thanks for the help guys
@ sandy one no i have prosper installed on its own server a hostgator level 5 vps
@ szmudo i dont think its the offer and im not cloaking the reffer, when i use the offer aff link it only takes 2 seconds to redirect
HG.
There's your problem. We cant use HG or GDaddy for what we do.
"Don't Install Prosper202 On Hostgator, Godaddy, Or any other Hosting Companies' Shared Hosting Plan."-
http://prosper.tracking202.com/blog/...or-godaddy-etc
thanks sandyone i appreciate the help but i think he is saying not to install it on hostgator or godaddys or anyother hosting providers shared plans i have it on installed on Hosgator vps level 5 i dont think that is the problem becouse i have read posts about people on WF that have a hosgator vps and i dont think they have had any problems
...Hostgator level 5 vps =/= shared hostgator plan. I see no reason why such a VPS would slow down a simple P202 redirect to that extent.
Check your http headers and see where the delay is.
@ zeno thanks but what should i be looking for in my http headers ? im a little confused
im thinking about switching to cpv lab does cpvlab have faster redirect speeds then prosper
and which one is more reliable
Hey, I prefer to do it in Firefox - Press Ctrl+Shift+K to bring up the web console. Then click your outbound link. It will show you the different hops in the redirect process and show you the load time next to each. Alternatively, if this is US based, load the outbound link on your lander in the Pingdom test and see what happens there.
thanks zeno that helped me out allot i found the problem its not with prosper. prosper is only taking 330ms to redirect
Check your DataBase, maybe you've got too many records in there. Might help to clear the DB, I think there is something for deleting old clicks in p202.
@seowork - where was the problem in the end? I'm guessing something on the affiliate network's side?
(No worries if you'd prefer not to say, I'm just curious.)
hi caurmen the problem was on the advers side
